In order to go to Valley Forge I have to fly into philly first. From there I have to take a 20 min cab ride to the convention center correct? For those who have been there before, could someone tell me how much the cab ride costs or if there is a cheaper alternative. thanks

Do not take a cab. After you collect your baggage go to the "Ground Transportation" desk that is located between the baggage turnstiles. There is a person sitting at the desk to give you the code numbers of the various ground transportation companies. I recommend Rapid Rover. It is a set rate to destinations, unlike a cab where you could be sitting in traffic and running up the meter.

If you want to compare various companies there is a board directly opposite the desk that has the companies listed to go to PA/NJ/DE and what the prices are for travel to each county in those states. You will be traveling to Montgomery county to get an idea of what it will cost you .

Another thing you guys could do is figure out if any of you flying in will be arriving around the same time and you could split the cost. Or you could even go to priceline.com and get a car for roughly $6 or $7 a day and split that cost. Just an idea....

If they go with ground transportation services like Rapid Rover or Liberty, it's on a "per person" basis. If they share a cab, it's one fare for all of them. But the chances of not getting stuck in traffic along the "Sure-kill Expressway" or I95 and the Blue Route is very slim.

Just a suggestion. Of course, they could see if their hotel has some kind of shuttle service to/from the airport.

UGH, that thing is BRUTAL!! I avoid it at all costs. Philly is the same distance from me that Baltimore & Dulles are... I won't even look at Philly for flights because of it. I only fly out of BWI & Dulles... I can get in & out of both airports with no problem.

Barbara, I like your idea better than the cab ride. If two people are going to be arriving & departing around the same time, they might want to consider splitting a rental car. Having the freedom to go out to a restaurant or one of the pool rooms is always nice to have. Splitting the cost between two people for 3 or 4 days would be around $30 per person... not a bad deal for your own wheels for that time period. Actually 1p & Scottr, are ya'll arriving anywhere close to the same time? You guys might want to look into that... 1p, didn't you say you were getting a rental??
 
It Depends On Where You Are Staying, But Most Of The Hotels In The Are Of The Convention Center Have Shuttles To And From The Airport. You May Also Want To See If That Service Is Available.
 
Valley Forge transportation ?

If you call the Radisson they will give you directions to get a shuttle that is $43 cash, $45 credit card.
Me, I'm spoiled, I'm taking a car service for $60 plus tax and gratuity.

1proscoe got a rental for $7 or $8 a day last yr. For 4 days that is a total of $28 to $32!!! He said that he went to priceline.com and initially put in $6 but he didn't get any hits and he upped it by $1 and got a car. 1p, correct me if I'm wrong on the price but I'm pretty sure that's what it was.

I just did a search on priceline & got $29 a day by their search. I wasn't able to search the name your price part because you have to have a flight number. If someone has a flight number already and wants to check, I would love to know what you could get. Even if it was $10 a day, it's still cheaper than the ONE WAY price using the hotel shuttle.
 
I have never seen a price like that and i rent a lot. If i can get a car for $8 day, Im selling the one i have and renting 365 days a year-No insurance costs-Im waaaaaaaaaay ahead. The lowest i have ever seen in the last 2-3 yrs is $19.95 day and then after taxes and fees, its $30.

IN Albuquerque IIRC, they have and 18% tax on rental cars plus fees.

BTW-Never prepay your gas-The only way you make out is if you bring the car back dead empty and who wants to head for the airport on fumes. Most people leave at least 4-5 gallons and that is just handing the rental outfit $10 for nothing.

I've never seen it that cheap either & I've rented quite a bit this past yr. I can't remember what the cheapest was but it was right around the price you quoted. 1p was telling me this one day when I was on my way to the airport & I was talking about my rental car. I might've heard him wrong but I'm pretty sure that's what he said..... Hey Ross, what say you? :)

I never got the prepay because I never know how much gas I'm going to use. It just always made sense to not get that option... isn't the gas cheaper at the gas station either way, anyway??

old thread, but it was $8/day for 3 days, plus about $20 in taxes and misc charges. I had a car from Fri-Mon for $45.
