i just put money down on a valley cougar tonight. the table looks like it just left the showroom. the only problem is that one of the head rails is dead. it feels like its made out of wood or something. my question is can i buy only one rail? also, what kind of rails did they use on valleys. i got the table for $500, and this thing is like brand new, cloth and all.
take care,

Don't just buy a set of rails. Do your homework first. Most cushion sets with the wood attached are not very good. You can buy the rubber cushion only and glue it to the old wood if it is good.

First I'd take off the outer aluminum molding and tighten the rail bolts. If there good the cushion probably has separated from the rail. You should ask this question over in the table mechanic section. That way you'll be getting the latest info on rails or cushions available.

rod, the rail thats on there feels like the edge of it is wood. if you push on the edge that the ball hits, its hard like wood. its the only rail like that. the rest are excellent.......any ideas??

I've seen rails get moved around on different tables. It probably isn't the same as the others. It sure doesn't seem likely only that one rail sat in the sunlight/heat and got hard. LOL
