Valley Table question for Real King Cobra

Glen,

I was hoping you might be willing to answer a question about Valley bar boxes. I suppose to be more accurate, I am particularly wondering about a Dynamo bar box. This is an all black model from about 10 years ago. It uses the green logo aramith cueball if this helps at all to identify the table.

Anyway, you mentioned in the Diamond thread some of the limitations of this table design. As I understand it, the rails do not bolt to the slate at all. The bolts that hold the rail cushions on are prone to loosen.

I am interested to know how to get the most I can out of this table. I have in the past removed the thin metal trim strips to access the rail bolts. I tightened them all up and it seemed to help some. *Most* of them were loose lol! So I was wondering...you mentioned two bolts that hold the pocket castings in. It sounded like tightening those would also make a big difference. How do you access those? I am not in a position to start taking the table apart, and I certainly wouldn't be removing the slate or anything. Is there a relatively simple way to access these structural bolts and tighten up the rails to eliminate the deadness? Can they be reached via the ball return? What about the other side of the table?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I would also be interested, I have a Brunswick bar table, and it sounds like it is made basically put together the same way.

Valley

Sir i own 25 valley pool tables in my club i know them almost inside out, the two bolts u talking about on the casting can only be tighten if u remove the slate. Then u can get to the two bolts on the casting. And yes it does make a big differnce. Also Valley came out with a new bar box it has 5 bolts per rail and differnt pockets, they are great. Im not taking anything away from the old tables i own all valley tables i wouldnt own anything else.

Thanks for the info. This is too bad...I won't be able to remove the slate (its not my table). I feel as though the rails are kinda dead. What you described is probably what needs to be done. No way around this?

This post might be better in the Talk to a Mechanic" section, as I know RKC and MANY other mechanics frequent that area of the forum.

I have not checked to see if this is also there, simply my observation.

I only posted here. Thanks for the advice. Is there an easy way to "copy" the whole thread over to there, or do I just need to repost?

You can get to the casting bolts w/o moving the slate...but as you wish...wait for Glen to tell you how. Johnnyt

Keith ,your tables play great. If you're ever thinking of unloading any of them I would definitely buy one.
Did I hear right that they all have ridgeback rails?

Keith , seems you can retro fit older tables with the new bolt system . If you bought one set you could use them as a template and drill out the holes.

The Valley Panther 5-bolt rail system allows for more solid attachment. Owners of existing Valley tables can take advantage of the improvements. You can see in this comparative photo that the three bolt holes from the classic rails line up unchanged to the new rails; but by swapping the t-nuts for threaded inserts, it's the "death of the dead spot"
