I'm going to....

Sounds like slick marketing to me. It's worked before many many times. It still amazes me that some people will purchase the cue and think they can play like Shane with it. Companies pay endorsements because they drive revenue.

I'm pretty sure if I buy that cue I'll play just like Shane, of course, I would probably have to die and possess his body to do so.....

on a more serious note. I was a huge disliker of LD tech for a long time. I then bought a McDermott 2009 cue of the year with the I-squared shaft. at first I was using a REALLY long bridge and BHE and then it was pointed out to me by my friend CJ that I was aiming wrong for that cue. I adjusted to a mostly parallel adjustment for english and now I won't play with anything else.

I remember talking to Jim McDermott not long after Jim Varney's passing (he was a good friend and it hit him hard) and I have nothing but respect for Jim McDermott...so I don't mind promoting the cues even though Jim isn't as prolific in McDermott cues anymore from what I've heard.

Anyone that knows Shane knows he wouldn't endorse a product that he doesn't believe in. Because he had some false preconceptions about Cuetec still being the same product from years ago (like many people do), it took him a few years to entertain their offers. Then one day he tried one of their cues while we were at a billiard supply store and he was surprised how much he liked it. He never would have signed a deal with them otherwise. I've heard him say many times that the lower deflection shaft has helped his game and he swears by it.

I am seriously not trying to be a smartass, but surely you are not talking about the same Jim Varney that played the part of Ernest P. Worrell???

If not, was there any relation to the actor? I believe the actor was Jim Varney, Jr., although in movie credits he was usually listed as just Jim Varney.
