I got my Varney last thursday at first I was a little dissapointed It just looked like a three piece bar cue, but looks can be decieving so I took it to the tiger pro am last weekend and put it in action. Cue jumps very well and accurate as long as you are not real close to the object ball, as for breaking I have been using an xbreaker and in my opinion I can hit them as hard if not harder with the Varney and with much more control. I have used just about every new break cue they come out with and for now the Varney seems to be the best j/b for overall performance. Thanks again to Mr. Varney great transaction and a nice guy to deal with.
Try a really loose grip...I just barely hold it with thumb & index finger and almost turn loose, slip stroke style. Don't be afraid to shoot straight down into the top of the ball either. I've definately found that jumping real close is much harder with the firmer grip. Its almost as if the cue can not rebound out of the way in time if you hold it firm. The loose grip allows the shaft to kind of bounce out of the way. PM me if you have further problems...I can definately walk you through it.
