Velocity Pro felt?

Does anyone have any info on Velocity Pro felt. Is it as good as Simonis? How does it play? Is it recommended?

I have a friend who is getting his table recovered and was asking about this type of felt. I'm not familiar with it, so I am unable to help him make a decision.

I recommended Simonis, however, the Velocity Pro is supposed to be much cheaper in price.

Any help is appreciated.

Do a search on this, it has came up before. Spend the money and buy Simonis.
Thanks, Ron

I have it on my table, it plays good, but I would just spend extra and get Simonis.

If it plays good, as you say, then why suggest spending more on Simonis?

People get too wrapped up in cloth brands for a home table.
Any worsted cloth will be smoother, faster, more precise and won't pill (the fuzzies).
If I had 2 tables and put Simonis on one and Velocity on the other most folks
couldn't tell the difference, except in their wallet.

If you can afford the best then go Simonis.
If not, then Velocity or Champ 3030 Tour Edition are good choices.

We just got 3 cuts for our 3 GC's from Dartman, it plays well and nobody has been able to tell the difference from simonis as of yet. But I can't comment on the durability yet, will report back in a few months. It is a good value so far.

Durability in a commercial setting has been the big question on Velocity.
The cloth first came to market in March 2007 and we've had some reports that it has held up well
however conditions vary from room to room. Looking forward to your comments in the future.

Simonis is widely used, why not get use to it for a little more?

A little more?
There's a significant price difference between Velocity and Simonis.

So it begets the question - why didn't you get Simonis? :D

Simple questions. :D

I have simons on all my bar tables but i dont find they are as good as they use to be. they start to fade very fast and have worn marks up at the rack area. think i will try somthing else nextime just not sure what yet.
these tables get a lot of play so i want something that will last.

From my experience you should get 9-12 months in an average commercial operation before needing cloth replacement.
Possibly your tables are getting more use and more wear then before?

Talk to Simonis about the new 860HR in the Tour Blue, I don't think there's a cloth on the market that can touch it. I installed it on 2 Diamond bar tables in Vegas a while back, it's the best Simonis I've ever installed so far.

You better pick up some Simonis Orange for your travels thru Texas and Tennessee.

did you happen to switch balls, poor quality balls will make a difference.

OK, its been approx. 3 months since I installed the Velocity Pro. I am glad to report it has held up well, even on my front table that gets 6-8+ hours a night of play. Brushed daily and wiped with a damp cloth once a week. It plays well and as good as the 860. I stretched 5" long way and 3" side to side. The only other comment I have is that I feel its a tad slower than the 860, but not much.

Stretch?

Hi Selftaut,

I have yet to install mine but hope to in the very near future. If had it to do over again would you change the stretch? I have played on it once in Florida and it was very fast in fact closer to 760 although not quite.

Hi, I would not change the stretch as it is plenty tight enough, and another reason is the report RKC gave that he had trouble with balls tracking on a Velocity installation. He consulted Velocity Pro on this and was told that it can't be overstretched or the balls will track. So I took that advice and I have no balls tracking the weave with the stretch I used, keep in mind this stuff will stretch BIG time and you could stretch a lot more but is not beneficial. I think not having air conditioning in my room is really why its a tad slower than the 860, winter months may be different.

Thank you for the response.
When you say 3 and 5" stretch do you mean total stretch or 3 for each side and 5 for each end....??
