I am recovering my table and wanted to know if anyone has played on Velocity Pro felt. It is 21oz. compared to 24 oz. 860. The 860 is 90% wool 10% nylon, while the VP is 85/15.
More than that it's less expensive. Any feed back appreciated

What size table? Johnnyt

I have not tried Velocity cloth, but I have some Championship Tour Edition for probably close to the price of the Velocity. I do not mean to jump in your thread with something for sale, but from what I had heard and seen, Championship Tour Edition and Simonis 860 are very similar.

I have used the cloth. Velocity is a good alternative if you can't afford simonis, it plays ok but it is not simonis. If all your looking for is an upgrade from the nappy cloth and have the speed on a home table then its fine. But Simonis has a more consistant speed and longer durability. Championship Tour is much closer to simonis.

You might want to research the Milliken Super Pro as well. I would rate this as a superior cloth to the Velocity Pro based on the reviews I have read on this forum.

Since you found it your duty to correct me ...by your words you are justified but by the same you will be condemned ..(scripture) .
It seems that even those in the industry still call it felt...www.poolfelt.com Thanks anyway

Yep.
Altho "cloth" is the correct term most of the pool playing world calls it felt (or a green, a cover, a top, etc).
Always have and always will.

First, don't get too worked up on ounce weight. Consider that Sim 760 is 20oz and 70/30 yet it is a superior cloth to most anything else on the market. Ounce weight and blend are just 2 of many factors that make a good cloth good.

Velocity is an entry level worsted cloth. A step up from napped cloth like Titan, Ultra, Mali, Forstmann and the like. It plays fast, won't pill, has good accuracy if installed correctly and is durable at a much lower price for those that don't want to or can't make the spend for the the top quality of Simonis. Consider that Velocity has been on the market 3 years next month while Simonis has been around 300 years and billiard cloth is their only product.

There's a lot of good worsted cloth available and everyone will have a preference of one over the other for various altho sometimes misinformed reasons. My advice to people that play more seriously outside the house in leagues & tournys is to try to simulate those playing conditions as best as possible on their home table. Hope this helps.

I think you left off the part that you sell it as an employee of Sterling.
You need to be the answer man for Super Pro.

Dartman's opinion

Rick,

Where does Championship cloth fit in compared to Pro Velocity and Simonis? I just picked up a used 9' Brunswick Centurion and reinstalled the used Championship cloth to check it out. It plays REAL slow. Will 860 HR play faster?
By the way, thanks for the super fast shipping on my last order!

You're welcome.

Championship has 1 worsted cloth which is Tour Edition. Good cloth and about like Simonis 760 on speed but faster than Velocity and Sim860.
Tour Edition tends to get faster with age.

Everything else from Championship is a napped cloth which I'm guessing is what you have per your description.

860HR will be faster than any napped cloth, just a bit faster than reg 860 and a little slower than 760 or Tour Edition.
It only comes in 4 colors so if one of those colors suits you it would be a good choice. Hope that helps.

I do work for Sterling Gaming and I have no problem answering any questions anyone may ever have about the products we carry.
Consumer reviews are more telling than any sales pitch I could ever give.
...

The OP started this thread asking for feedback on Velocity relative to Simonis 860. It irks me in threads like this when people feel the need to chime in with comments about other cloth styles when the OP asks about a "specific" brand of cloth. He didn't ask about Tour Edition or Milliken. Both are good quality but not the subject of this thread and talking about either does not answer any questions about Velocity.

You posted links to 2 "review threads" and rate Super Pro superior based on these 2 "positive" threads? What color smoke are you trying to blow other then a plug for Super Pro because you sell it? Others may not see the subliminal sales pitch in your post but I do. So my question is - if you can't comment on Velocity then why post?
