Veneer press pictures and video

If you go to http://www.harborfreightusa.com , then type in 1666under the item# search box, you get the item description. Click 'add to cart' Then print it and go to your local store and ask them if they have it, if they don't, they should be able to order it for you. I've learnt the hard way that you need to ask someone for it, even if they have some, most times, it's still in the rear stock area, and not out on the floor, or even displayed. Hope this helps.
Dick, if you go to their site, and sign up for their flyers, they should start sending the coupons again. Mine stopped, but I did the sign up and whola, I have a 15% coupon again:D

I get the emails too, but They still send Me those flyers through the mail. The last 2 coupons were for 15% off. I looked through 3 past flyers, and didn't see the one mentioned here, although I have seen them before, but the only presses I saw in the last three flyers were a 12ton and a 20ton, but even the 12 ton was 119 bucks and that was on sale I think. The 20ton was around 189. I guess they were floor models. They only showed a picture of one of them though.

Greg

Yes, those are both floor models but I've seen the bench model in the store before. It's like a six ton or something. I just went to their web-site and couldn't find anything on that small one. Maybe they have quit carrying them.

I'll have to try that again. They send me fliers through snail-mail and around 3 times a week I get stuff by e-mail but I haven't got any percentage off coupons for some time.

A litle tweaking and a screw jack could work That one you found smallest size is 16" tall minimum, I think it could work..

How much pressure do you need to apply and hold on the veneers?

Rybord, I have one of these plate setups. Each spring requires around 100 lbs of pressure to fully depress. Mutiply by 12 springs and it the veneers are getting pressed by 1200 lbs evenly.

Thanks Jim, I was curious about how much force needed to be applied so I could build my own frame to use with Lee's veneer press and use a screw or possibly a scissor jack instead of a bottle jack.

Don't let the bottle jack scare you. It will hold and it will release alot easier than other methods. If your only pushing 1200 lbs and jack is capable of 6 ton wich is 12000 lbs then you are only using 1/10 max capacity of the jack. It will not likely bleed unless there is something wrong with the jack to start with. In fact the springs are a very good way to visualise how much presure is being exerted on your veneers. Too much pressure will change the thickness and if the pressure is not distributed the center would be thinner.

Good Luck, jim.

90* veneers

Are those bent or pressed into a 90* angle or are those cut and glued. I guess what im asking does the press put them in the 90* angle?

the press glues them flat then you cut the v groove and fold then glue together we sell eveything to do the job

Hi Craig

Usually if you put the pump on the jack down you can use it horizonitally.

Gary
