Very dissapointed in lee brett. Should be ashamed

So far, I know of just two players (Lee Brett and Cleary) who have admitted they were drinking. What other players should we know about?

In the future, if these players can't conduct themselves like professionals, it will be considerably harder for them to find sponsors here on AZB.

Um, please save your condemnation when it comes to Cleary. He is not and has never pretended to be a professional player. It would do you some good to get together with some AZers in real life and drink some. You seem like you could use a little loosening up. ;-)

Also a little late to the party on the obvious.

If you EVER show up at an event that I am vending at your first five drinks are on me.

If these players play on their dime, they are welcome to play drunk. If I sponsor them (regardless of whether they are professional or amateur), I expect them to be sober when competing.

Ok, well next time AZB sponsors Cleary I nominate you for the drug testing. You should fly to Vegas and make sure of his blood alcohol content at match time.

We expect a detailed and comprehensive report.

Hypothetical scenario: This morning, one of your JB Cases employees shows up drunk for work. Would you would fire or discipline them? Or look the other way at the substandard work the employee is doing?

Not even the same scenario.

I expected Cleary to do his best, I expected Lee to act like a professional and show us why this is his chosen field.

I've seen people on their last barrel before, I've seen them prepare, do their best, give ever last ounce of their effort left to try and succeed. THEN maybe they'll ask for a handout, not take people's $550 and then act (again) like a drunken idiot. Lee has a history of making bad decisions while drinking and we can just add this to the list. I guarantee there will be no retribution for those who viewed the stake as an investment. The rest of them I really feel sorry for, the ones who gave their money because they respected the guy and wanted to help him work towards his goal. Their money was wasted and surely Lee's image was ruined for them.

Holy crap, Cleary was obviously just having some fun and people joined in. Who cares what he did when he was out there. He used the money appropriately, as in signing up to play...after that, he could as pie eyed and shitty as he wanted to, IMO. And just to prove I'm no hypocrite I will donate if he does it again and won't give two shits how drunk he gets. Hell, if I'm there I'll also buy his first 3 drinks.

Thankfully, I've been spared first hand personal experience with a drug or alcohol addiction. However, I've certainly seen it through friends and acquaintances and understand how real and powerful it is. I've never met Lee Brett so can't comment on him personally. Just remember the old saying "But by the grace of God, there walks I."

Per his Facebook post yesterday, Lee will be making a statement via "press release" sometime today.

I am thinking it is in reference to him "resigning" from BB due to lack of payment....(This is speculation, but that is what I am leaning toward)

ETA I wonder if he will address the topic of the OP

Wow. Both my 'horses' got drunk, one missed their match and it seems the other should have just missed it.

Shame on Lee Brett for asking for a hand out and then being anything but professional.

hmmm, recommendation for the BAL next to Sc5??

pity the fool that gives him any more handouts :embarrassed2:

personally think he probably just played not well without all the excuses given

sure hope Bonus Ball pans out  hard to get back to the UK broke

I'll go one step further and ONLY donate if he gets MORE shit-faced than he did this time... :D:D:D

Exactly!

And I will buy his third 3 drinks:thumbup:

As of 5:30 AM Vegas time, Lee was at the PaiGow table.

I'm sure when he's finished he'll give us an update, maybe even post in this thread.

Just throwing it out there, if anyone wants to put me in, I won't get drunk and I'll do my very best, even if I draw a champion. Maybe I'll even scare them a little. I don't play anywhere close to Lee, a lot closer to Cleary and I'm sure I look ravishing in orange also. ;)

One thing that Cleary and myself have is heart. I know he missed his match but I guarantee he had every intention of playing his best and spent a lot of time getting ready for the tournament. He just happened to sleep through his alarm.

I'm still waiting for the orange creamsickle in the swimming pool video. Until then, he's on my sh1t list.

I overcame serious addictions many years ago and I can assure you that "God" had nothing to do with it. I did it all on my own power (with the support of other human beings), as do others who overcome their addictions. To assume that some false being had a part in that is preposterous.

So you're saying that he is gambling off the $17 supposedly left to his name? Unbelievable.

Looked to have a bit more than that.

Maybe he was staked at PaiGow. He could be a professional at it.

'The Secret Art of PaiGow' coming soon!

Equally incredible is that you can take responsibility for thousands of years of evolution and the genes handed down to you by your parents. Either way, you missed his point.

I'm antagonostic.. I'm not sure of what I believe and you shouldn't be either.
