Very Intense Brazilian Rosewood!

At first blush, you think a simple merry widow...but far from it. I was drawn to this cue because of the outrageous Brazilian Rosewood segmented handle. There is unique figuring and coloring in the BRW. I had difficulty capturing it with my i pad Camera but it has almost purpleish hues in areas. Then even the Curly Birdseye Maple has a story. Birdseye maple is 3% of all maple harvested. Curly BEM is about 20% of that 3%. Combine there two unique pieces of wood. and you have a truly unusual merry widow that pretty much makes it 1/1.

I wish my pictures we a little better.

A few more shots

The woods hooked me. Very tough to find anything similar.

Guessed it by now?

The rings are unmistakeable Dave Barenbrugge. The wood deserves the highest ring level. This cue was originally made for our fellow member Kam Daswani. Thanks to Kam for selling me this gem and to Dave for further information. Dave instantly remembered everything about the woods!

Rare

That's the most rare and sought after Brazilian rosewood around , old black pencil line high figured with orange Huhes in the light but a darker brown almost black sometimes in low light. You have a gem

Spectacular piece of BRW!

The birdseye is a little tame in comparison, and not sure about that 20% rule.
More like 95% of all birdseye has 2 birdseye sides and 2 sides that look like
curly maple but are actually the eyes seen from the side.

You know more than me. :embarrassed2: I went back to my notes from what I was told. I was told BEM was 3% of all maple harvested and the curly BEM was 1% of all maple harvested.

Sorry it is too tame, but have a nice day:smile:

Dang it, I suppose my remark was less then positive about your cue and it was not meant that way,
you don't need me to tell you that is a great, great cue you have there.

Actually I value the input. I do not know wood. You will see on my other post that I thought the other cue was cocobolo and I have conflicting information indicating it is BRW? I am confused and trying to find out. I would appreciate any input. Thanks
All the best,
Phil:smile:

CORRECTION, Dave B said the other cue was Mexican cocobolo

That is a beautiful piece. Great for points and segmented handle. That is most likely cored because of the figuring and grain orientation.
The most sought after are the straight grain one.
