Coming up in Tunica Mississippi, a couple of excellent players are shooting with Mike & Scott Erwin Cues. Some may view my extreme friendship with Mike and Scott being bias, but, very truthful. No doubt, that after selling 180 Erwin cues and getting super submitted stories back to me, I can only say that the best cues made world wide for the price is Erwins. bar none. Furthermore, when Mike was the foreman at Meucci and handing the work he done to players like Mike Segal, Jim Rempe, Buddy Hall, St. Louie Louie, Loree Jon Jones and all the others who were sponsored by Meucci back in the day, who was responsible for their shooting cues?? Mike Erwin. Now Mike may have gone on his own and may not have wanted the politics of advertising as he let his cues walk the walk on the their own. It amazes me that the industry of pool just does not give the credit to Mike Erwin as the Erwin Cues are over shadowed by advertisements. If I would release names who are making cues as a custom cue makers who are selling their work for double the Erwin Cue cost, you would be amazed who taught them the trade, yes, Mike Erwin did. Yet, with Mike and Scott being really honest and admirable people, these other cue makers have kept their mentor a hushed secret. I truly believe Mike Erwin was a person who didn't want to blow his own horn like some of the cue makers who he taught, but, would have been thrilled if any of these people would have given him some credit. Instead, since he was about one of the greatest cue makers to actually talk to and someone who would bend over backwards for a pro or the hardworking blue collar person, he really never received the credit he was due in my opinion. The cue shown here, if other cue makers could even produce such a cue, would have a $ 2,000 price tag on this cue. It shocks me that a simple plain jane cue from other cue makers who Mike showed how to build a cue, will price tag a cue at $ 500.00 and it's the talk of the world. Yet, a nice hand made cue that was done by Mike or Scott is bringing only $ 250.00 to $ 300.00 with very nice lines and fantastic schemes to the cue. This cue is a bargain at the asking price that is being asked for under $ 1,000.00. It's to bad that when Mike passed away and a number of people wrote in the main forum some very nice things about Mike Erwin as a person and of course his work, that none of these other cue makers who learned the trade from Mike, couldn't man up and state the fact that it was Mike Erwin who taught them how to work a piece of wood. The wonderful thing, is that his son Scott did also learn the lesson's Mike taught and continues to make great cues for the money. It amazes me that people will spend $ 300.00 to $ 400.00 for a nice simple custom cue or a nice production cue and have no clue what that money would bring them in a hand made Mike Erwin cue that can flat out be a shooter as a lot of us know. I sincerely hope that if someone really wants more cue for the money than they would ever dream about, this cue here is a steal for the price. Also, repairs and finish jobs, geesh, no one does a fantastic job for the price better than Scott Erwin. Give this cue a shot and also Scott as the industry of pool players are really missing the boat with Mike's legacy and the continued outstanding work of Scott Erwin. So to ramble, but, I do feel amazed at times that cues that are made in Tawain or other foreign countries have such a hold over americans with their sawed up shafts instead of old school cue makers shafts that are hands and above American Cue Maker's shafts that are kilned. Unreal. Sorry again to ramble, you guessed it. I love American Cue Makers and appreciate the people that were really behind the scenes of great cues like the Erwins. This cue here is dead right a real, I mean real hand made by an American Great.
