Veterans Tourny:poolplayers that were soldiers?

U. S. A.

anyone who served in the guard from ohio (army) i can get yours (214), its part of my everyday job!

im pumped about this.

At the same time though it needs to be all Vets, from every branch and current active soldiers as well as long as you have served your country in some branch somehow your in.

im sure USPFO and Public Affairs office would be all over it.

Kenny (The truck Driver) and i were talking about this and he said he would even come play!!! and he never leaves players!
if you dont know who the legendary truck driver sorry lol

You are right on the money, Trent. It should be for all veterans as well as active military, male and female. It would be such an honor to play along side of current military personnel. While this might seem a little prejudicial to some of our AZB family members across the world, I would like for an event like this to be limited to U.S. personnel. If that makes me anything other than being proud of all of those who have served the United States of America, then so be it. I'll take the criticism in stride.

It would be really cool to have commanders from all over the globe sending their best pool-shooting soldiers or most deserved soldier to compete against other veterans. Something like this could even help the assimilation of combat soldiers back into the civilian mainstream society. It will be a difficult journey for many of our young men who have suffered the ravages of war. I would love to do my part whatever that happens to be.

Count me in

Please keep myself and others informed if a tournament ever takes place.
It would be great to see a 14-1 tournament, along with 8-ball & 9-ball.
I'll do the Army proud.......... :>)

I spoke yesterday with the owner of Q's Billiards in Saint Robert, Mo. He told me he would be happy to host the event. He suggested having a breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Buffet and charge around $5.00 per person MORE that the cost and giving that to the Wounded Warriors also. So If this goes down be ready to pay more $$ than usual for your food and don't think of eating anywhere else and no whining :)

I think that you guys are right about getting the VFW involved also, it won't cost them anything other than sending out emails to all their registered members to make them aware.

What about British Military? can they be in too or should it just be U.S. The reason I ask is that I am from Englands and when I meet U.S Military they always seem to have a story about some crazy Brits they were with somewhere and they have fond memorys. Let me know your thoughts. This might actually come off.

I say Yes

England fought & lost many brave soldiers in all the Wars. I have no problem having them.
Thanks for your work.

Not to be a Charlie Brown but the Brits have been our closest ally ever since we cut the umbilical cord. :)

My brother in law is a post commander in central Louisiana and I will ask him if there is any way to contact the decision makers for things like this for the VFW.

I like what Q Billiards is doing for our military men and women.

The only problem with the VFW is that the might be trying to send too many entries. The extra money for food sounds great.

Something tells me that Jay Helfert was in the Military at some point. If he doesn't want to play maybe he could help with T.D duties. We shall see if this can even work, I think there is ALOT to be figured into this.

Jay served our country right here in Louisiana but him being the GingerBread Man, he ran faster than I could keep up with him.

Right now his fast, little legs are helping him keep up with the Filipinas. :D

i could bring at least 15-20 vets from ohio that would play without even sending a E-mail to all the VFW's maybe we should do a state tournament and the top 5 vets from each state meet somewhere bigger (vegas Wink) to have a top vet tournamnet then you could get each state to pull together and have their vets compete and possibly help send them to the tourny's since alot of vets i know can hardly afford to play let alone travel and pay for a hotel.???? this thing could turn out to be huge!!! and we could possibly get MWR Funds if we ask the right people.

I think that would be up to a vote. Personally (my opionion means less than nothing here) I think that tostart with since we have no real idea how many people would take part and no paid organization to set all the different states and qualifiers up, that for the first try at this we should try and keep it simple. One venue all interested are welcome. If it turns Out that we have a great turn Out for this we can Work on making it better next year. Again thats up to you guys but I really don't have the time to organize a multi State qualifier. I can help alot if it is just one tourney over one weekend and even then I would need also of help. However I would be proud to help in any way I can however you guys decide to do it.

Can anyone give me a rough daye as to when this should take place? I am getting a little excited about this.

WE NEED NEWS MEDIA.
WE NEED CORPORATE SPONSORS.
THINK BIG.

NOT October, not Thanksgiving. Nov 11-14 is the Seminole Pro Tour Championship FWIW.

I think you need more time to form a plan, IMO. The first one should be GOLDEN and that takes a little time for planning, promoting and getting sponsors, potential players and media on board.

MWR funds????? Please explain.

Yeah, the state tournament could be a tournament that covers the cost of the expenses for the state champion at the national level.

What discipline?
How many games race to?

Thanks,
JoeyA
