If you're a smoker and you live south of Philly, be sure to buy your smokes before you leave home. They're roughly $5 per pack in this area. If you live north of Philly, buy 'em when you get to Philly! :D

Be sure to pack something GREEN if you're going to be there on Fri.... that's St. Patty's day. ;)

If you smoke & your coming up from a warm climate... bring a jacket. There is no smoking at the expo this yr. You'll have to go outside.

Wear comfy shoes. You're going to be doing a lot of walking!

If you have something that you would like to donate for the DCC raffle, bring it with you & I'll be happy to take it off your hands. (Raffles will be starting after the expo)

One other thing for first timers or a reminder for others:

If you get a event badge as a player, always have it with you. If you don't, they will charge you to get into the player/vendor areas. I learned this one the hard way.

Thursday, Friday... what's the difference. ;) I'm sure, all the days are going to run together, anyway. I'll see y'all Saturday. :)

So Timberly I will have two bags of nuts for you, one for the raffle and one for you personally.

I'll just have to trust you to not eat the second bag.

Skess,

Sorry, but that's what the gate staff has to do. It's been a learned lesson over the years. There's a reason why they stamp and mark, trust me. I've been to WPBA events where they do the admission to the gate, and trust me, they're amateurs at this. I can figure out at least 3 ways to get in for free.

And on a second note - if anyone discovers a badge on the floor or whatever, not attached to a person somewhere, please turn it in to the Box Office or the Amateur Tournament desk.

Barbara,

I didn't mean to sound like I was complaining. I was just trying to offer up some helpful info to anyone that may be going. With so many players staying at hotels away from the Convention Center, it can be a real pain to have to go back and get it. Especially if you're in a hurry to get to a match.

See ya there!

Hey Timberly, where did you get this info about no smoking at the Expo? I can't find info like that on the Expo web page. It used to be that you could smoke downstairs but not upstairs.

That would be Friday, at least it is on my calender.
Can we descendants of protestant Irish (even if we are non-religious) wear Orange? :D

I don't know where she got the info, but a friend of mine was told directly by Hopkins that it would be totally smoke-free this year. Now I'll be able to leave the practice area at night when I want to, not when I'm driven out due to an inability to breath any longer.

Scott,

Why not post a yellow sticky note to your car's dashboard with a check list of things before you even start the car?

Will I get a bag of nuts as a reward?!?!?!? :D

Definitely NO SMOKING

I just got off the phone with Allen Hopkins. He sounds as excited as I am. He said there's DEFINITELY NO SMOKING.......I am a smoker but it won't bother me.........I have 2 young daughters and I never smoke in the house anyway.......He also told me that neither Efren or Busta will be there.....but he did go on to say he believes it to be a STRONG field in the Pro Event:
Archer, Immonen, Putnam, Williams, Hohmann, Deuel, etc..........sounds a lot like the past couple of years. Also, Ginky is playing this year too. Now if I can just get through the house painting this weekend.......squeeze in a couple of hours of 9 Ball practice.......work Monday, Tuesday, half day Wednesday.........I'm ready to go:D

That's the second event I've heard of him showing up at. Maybe he has come to his sense and dumped poker coming home to pool. ;)

Yeah, catscradle, do you think maybe the advent of the IPT has something to do with it;)

No matter.....I definitely enjoy watching Ginky play.

See you at the Expo!!

Oops! You're right... LOL, I changed the original post... Friday is St Patty's day. I must've looked at the calendar cross eyed. :p

The IPT probably has something to do with it, but I suspect that he also discovered that, just like pool, poker is a "hard way to make an easy living".
