Vhante Cues

Jenor Urate and Steve Urate are cuemakers from the Philippines. Jenor, the uncle, has been making cues for many years and makes beautiful custom cues under the name of RONEJ CUES (Jenor backwards). Steve Urate, the nephew, has worked under his uncles tutilage for several years, and, while working in the same shop as I understand, makes his own designs. They are both known for their beautiful work with Amboyna burl. I own several of their cues, and have been nothing but impressed with the quality and beauty of their cues. I have not seen any of their work on e-bay for several months now. I hope that it is not because of the political upheaval on the islands, or that they have been struck by the recent storms.
I forwarded a custom design to a Western USA cuemaker, and received a bid of $3400 (a sixteen point with lots of ivory). After speaking with Steve Urate, he built the exact cue, as per my design, and had it to my front door in six weeks for $400.00, signed "VHANTE - 1 of 1" with my name on it. One of the nicest and most solid hitting cues I have personally played with.

This is a great price for any of their cues. Shipping is normally $50 from the Philippines.

I am trying to download some photos of their work. Hope I can get them on here. Sorry, I don't have any of the custom cue Steve built.

Steve has moved back to his home Province from Manila, before the politcal and weather issues.
He does not know when or if he will return to cue making, a shame for a talented individual.

I believe I sold this cue to Jeff.

If so, The joint is 3/8 x 10, and accepted aftermarker shafts.

Good Luck with the sale! :)
