Video: 1988 (per multiple requests): Keith McCready v Reyes + McCready v Strickland

I thought Keith and Jenny might like to see this relatively pristine version of his two 1988 Brunswick Open 9-Ball matches that I just digitized from the VHSes I taped off-the-air 28 years ago when originally telecast. Managed to rescue them -- still in pretty good condition -- before the VHSes got any older. (Just turned 80 two weeks ago and want to keep sharing -- via Youtube -- all of my once-telecast VHSes before *I* get too much older to complete the digitizing project as a small contribution to pool history.

I edited and combined my versions, and have just uploaded the 1-hour, 33-minute result to Youtube. I remember that Jenny had uploaded both a few years ago from her own tapes and thought she (and Keith) might appreciate my own stab at historically preserving these well-played, very close and exciting matches. (I met both Keith and Jenny briefly while I was spectating at a quite snowbound (like today) NJ casino 9-ball tourney during one winter in the mid-1990s – a very nice, loving couple.) Here’s the link to both matches on my channel:

AZB-ers might also want to watch the Strickland-Sigel final from this same Caesar’s Las Vegas tournament on my channel here:

Expert Mizerak commentary on all the abovementioned matches, Classic "tuxedo" tournament pool.

Enjoy.

Looking forward to watching. Thanks, Arnoldo, JAM...and I guess the ether had a little role in it...!

McCready had the strangest stance I've ever seen. How did he play so well with such an unorthodox stance? I wonder why he chose such a stance.

What is the proper etiquette when you know that the ref made a bad call in your favor? In the McCready-Efren match, Efren made what seemed to be a good hit but the ref called it a foul. Keith admitted as much but said something like "hey the ref called it" and took ball in hand. Is that poor sportsmanship or just going by the rules?

Thank you so much for sharing these two videos with Keith. These were taken before the advent of digital audio, and there jare not very many videos of Keith playing pool in the '80s. Of course, I will cherish these YouTube links always. Very much appreciated!:)

And I definitely cherish your response, JAM, and hearing of your mutual appreciation of the revitalizing of these nostalgic and thoroughly absorbing moments from "the good old days" as it were. I'm very moved by it all.

Countless viewers of these ultra-talented professionals, seeing the original broadcasts (then, and now) and realizing what ultimately can be done on a pool table -- given steadily accumulated expertise -- no doubt were/will be inspired to take up the game and improve their skills.

Same inspiring quality can be found in the present day exemplars of top professional play who show how beautiful the sport can be.

Nice videos, thanks for sharing! Both these players have such unorthodox strokes/stances and opposite personalities that make the videos that much more enjoyable...

Gotta love it.
Playing pool with the PEA BALLS.
And slow cloth where you had to actually stroke the ball with some power.
None of that bouncy rail crap.
