Video:1995 US Open 9-ball. Reyes; Bustamante; Archer; *Reed Pierce!* 2 semis + final

The three closing matches. Semi 1: Bustamante vs *Reed Pierce* (outstandingly resilient under the pressure in both of his matches). Semi 2: Reyes vs Johnny Archer. Suspenseful final: Reyes vs Pierce. Excellent commentary by Buddy Hall; Nick Varner; and Steve Mizerak.

Length 3 hours,18 minutes. I just digitized and Youtubed these 2 semis + the final from my VHS videotapes made during the 1995 US Open telecasts 21 years ago.

I watched all 3 of these matches in person. Reed really held up well when the consensus was Efren and Bustie would drill him. Tommy D.

Your sig says it well (pure guts race). Reed's pure guts met the challenge, and he deservedly had a sizable contingent of well-wishers in the audience who increasingly responded to that determined, laser-focused mental toughness. As with one well-known definition of courage: "grace under pressure."

Met him at the world champs in 96-97?Nice guy.Anybody know if he is still around?

Anyone else think the ref made a bad call in the hill hill game between Busty and Reed?

Wish the "powers that be" would watch some of these older matches. This is how 9ball should be played. Awesome&thanks!!!!!!

Notice how you actually had to HIT the ball and STROKE the ball.

None of this "bunt/poke stroke it pocket speed and let the rails bounce you all over the place for position" like we see everywhere today.
