video makes custom cue making look easyyyy

That vid was from "How It's Made", and the facility was Falcon's old office in Mississauga, Ontario. This is how most production cues are made, except that Falcon had a few vertical machines I have never seen anywhere else.
 
Even most (not all) custom cues are made this way as well. Modern machinery plays a big part in making cues. Schon, Joss, McD's, Viking and Predators cues are made this way and that fast. Most cues are produced on an assembly line like cars. A design is made, the materials are selected, every thing is entered into a computer and with a helping hand a cue is made.

Makes it look easy. I know some cues take months and months (sometimes longer).. custom ones. These are production in video I'm assuming, would this be how most cues are made? Like predator, mcderm etc

Keep in mind, what is shown in that clip is maybe 10% of the work
involved in making that cue. Even in a production environment, there are
hundreds of operations required to produce a cue.

I believe you are really showing your lack of any usable knowledge on how a cue is actually constructed. There is no machine that you can just toss in some wood and with a little helping hand, come out with a cue. This film clip does show some of the machines and techniques that are used but the cuts and time line are greatly exaggerated. What's done in one pass on the clip may actually be 5, 6 or 7 passes done over months. It's hard to give the correct time lines and number of passes and glue drying times that are spread over months in a ten minute clip. Don't we wish it were so easy.

I think maybe you should ask Watchez about this..from what he understood and thought, building a cue was easy....maybe he can shed some light on this subject...I am about to dive off into it and find out first hand...nothing major though...I will be attempting to make my 1st house cue conversion...I am sure it will turn out off centered and hit like a dried elephant turd :grin:

Oh darn, that close <fingers held 1mm apart> to a free cue or two :mad:
