video of a good way to practice

Just for clarity, the guys who posted super high numbers or saw someone in person such as Davenport, were you doing the strict draw only version, or the version where you can go to a rail?

I agree with Kim when I first learned this drill I was on Team Fury and #1 at tricks...I could easily make it to 20 every time and never touch a rail to do it...Later as I got older that jumped up to 40-50 and at my best I feel like I could do it forever...

However it is still tops for learning...I did it way over 50 times without ever touching a rail before...78 going to the rail 2 times is my best...But like I said in the video I just don't count them much...I have broke hundreds shooting it without care of the rail...I basically shot the two rail version 200+times in a row..Learning how to control your speed of stroke on that shot will get you in line for your break shots a ton more. This lets you know how little spin is needed to guide the balls around...as well..

If this drill seems easy to you it is because you are very strong player...Try shooting them up table to the far corner from the spot. That is what I am doing now...It is a humbling experience...lol

Otherwise if it is too hard, then shoot the object ball into any hole you want, and use rails to get shape too...If that is easy take the rails out...Which is a great drill too. I was going to make that as my next video..

I have been trying this off and on the past few visits to the room again.

Tonight I bested my prior best of 5 with an 11. Furthermore, I had many 6's and 7's. It just started coming back straighter than before, and really built my confidence.

One thing that I learned tonight, is if I get "slightly" out of line, I can get back in line by cheating the pocket, but using NO spin. Before, I was trying to cheat the pocket with spin. This only works if its out of line like an 1/8"... but it is very controllable. In fact, several times I bounced back and forth between being out of line on opposites sides of the ball, on successive shots. But it was controllable and I could get back to straight in.

After I got "slightly" more consistent at it today, I can definitely see how a pro can do it all day long.

I was on a 9' GC today with double shimmed pockets.

I used to do this sometimes, except with the object ball in the center of the table. My record was like 20 or something (I haven't done it for a while, so not sure what the exact number was). It got really messy by the end with me having to draw 3 rails a few times.
