I would assume that Accu-Stats are taping all the feature matches like they do every year.
My question is.....

Is it going to be the way it used to be (Incardona with some OTHER pool player in the booth), or is it going to be that Jim Wych junk. He makes those tapes with him commentating, the most BORING experience to watch.

Personally, i always thought that Accu Stats did a great job putting pool commentators in the booth. Not only were they very knowledgeable, but at times they didn't agree on what options were available and as a result, spectators were able to get many different ideas as to possible ways to play the shot.

Whether it be a shot, a safe, or a flyer. The guys always used to have many different thoughts or were in complete agreement, and were very adept at relaying that information
EXCELLENT LEARNING TOOL!

But since what'shisface has been in the booth. Most people i know don't want to hear him cause he has no idea what he's talking about, unless it's an obvious shot.

So who was in the booth this year?

Jim is not there this time. I know that Tony Annigoni did some commentary this year.

I too found Jim Wych as very unsatisfactory as a commentator. But since 9 ball is not my viewing choice. When you have a guy like Danny Diliberto or a Grady Mathews you can see the disparity. Danny is got to be one of the best. But if you ever get the chance to hear Efren Reyes comment on a Reno 9 ball match you should! His view of the table is unique. Billy I, his co comentator, kept making predictions and Efren would say "No I think he should do this". Or "No Billy I think he is going to do this" and he eventually would. His knowledge of rotation is so deep that he would make a great partner in commenting a match.

Thanks Mike. That's good to know. If Tony did some commentating with Billy, then that's the type of commentary i enjoy. Both have a wealth of knowledge. Better yet if Grady and Billy are together, cause they are constantly arguing over who's gonna be right, that you can't help but have different opinions.

Also helps if you have 2 different styles in the booth. One agressive and one conservative.
Just as long as it's better than the long pauses of nothingness, with Billy being the only knowledgeable one, and what'shisface just kind of tagging along.

Allen Hopkins has my vote for a great commentary, he does enough side stories to keep it interesting.
Hope BCN goes back to live next year,I won't be getting any of the tapes, but I would have paid 50 dollars to watch 10 days of pool live.

Wych's just vanilla!

I really don't mind Jim Wyche that much....I have WPC tapes from 2000, 2001, 2002 and he's OK....but I agree much more can be gained by the viewers by putting someone else in the booth........I also like Grady but I heard he won't be doing anymore Accu-Stats tapes because of the 2001 US Open when Pat Fleming decided to use Mike Sigel instead of Grady......that was a real slap-in-the-face to Grady after all he'd done for Accu-Stats from the beginning.......I mean the FIRST EVER live broadcast of 9-Ball on the Dish Network and Grady gets ousted for the ego-maniac Sigel........Grady got a raw deal.....and I don't blame him for being mad at Accu-Stats......Maybe they should just get Sid Waddell :D

From Wednesday to Friday it was mainly Danny DiLiberto with either Tony Annigoni or Freddie the Beard (almost all one pocket matches). Saturday I saw Billy Incardona in the booth for the first time (I can't recall who he was with - maybe Danny D. again).

I think I heard Eddy Kelly announced as in the booth once. Tony is fine as he is a good talker and a good personality but I think he knows absolutely nothing about one pocket, he never plays the game and probably knows even less.
