You may never know. The best I've done on a Valley BB was 8-10 in favor of the ghost. And that was 6 ball LOL.

I play B speed, with flashes of B+. I can beat the 6 ball ghost fairly easy, 7 ball ghost abour 70% of the time, and taking the last 2 playing the 9 ball ghost I'm about 40-50% successful.
You got me beat by a country mile. I'm having trouble with the 6 ball ghost.

I need *alot* more lighting for decent recording - but my current setup is easy & convenient using the i-phone & posting direct from the phone to utube. (I wont be investing in any studio lighting anytime soon ;-p)

I'll take on the 3 ball ghost for starters in a race to 9 - the 6 ball ghost race to 9 will be quite a challenge for me I think and may take quite a bit of practice to work up to....

I argee. I did the Dr Dave tests, and posted my videos there. It was a lot of work, to do the tests. I can see people just not wanting to do it.
The Ghost everyone knows how to do.
As a reference the straight pool thread gets a lot more participation than the Dr Dave thread. Extrapolating to 9 ball, a Ghost challenge thread "should" get more participation than straight pool.
Another real issue is the technical issue. It is NOT easy to record a ghost session and upload it to youtube. Its one thing posting a 2 minute video. Posting an hour video is an entirely different can of worms.
Whats the tricky bit ? Recording for 1 hour or trying to upload the 1 hour recording to u tube ?

Both. If you are using an iPhone, to record an hour of footage, it takes up a TON of your memory. Your phone might not have enough available.
Second, even if your youtube account is "verified" to limit the 15 minute time limit, many people have still reported issues actually uploading the videos and youtube accepting them. This came up in the Dr Dave thread. I personally, have tried many times, and have not been able to upload more than 4 or 5 minute from my iPhone to youtube.
In contradst, people using standalone video cameras (not iPhones), seem to have better success. There is no memory limit in the camera itself (at least nothin a Ghost session would exhaust), and youtube accepts the videos.

Easiest way I've found...
Install an App called "you tube capture". Don't even need to open it while recording. Just record on iPad or iPhone video camera and you can then edit and name the videos when you upload to you tube and it can be uploaded in 720 or 1080. All you need is a registered YouTube channel and it works great, just make sure you are plugged in and connected to wifi during upload. Check out my station @ NE9Ball to check on quality.
I have just begun to play around with this idea, playing the ghost (the easy way,(BIH) after the break) but still can't win more than one in a race to five. When I get to at least three, I'll definitely post and accept all criticisms as long as they're constructive.
P.S...tried the hard way,( no BIH) and had the same results. One win racing to five. Fun drill..keeps you grounded in reality. How you " Think" you'll do is not nearly as close to what actually happens. Just a word to the wise, don't get discouraged. You can be an "A" in your head and a "C" on the table.

What would be the "standard" rules of playing the ghost?
Break. BIH after the break. NO penalty if you scratch on the break. Its BIH regardless. Nothing spots on the break, scratch or no scratch. If you win the game, its a point. If you miss or foul after the break, its a loss.
Early 9 ball combos ARE wins.
These are the standard rules as I've seen them gambled locally.
Might be worthwhile to put a qualifier that 9 on the snap only counts in the back 4 pockets. Thats how most rack your own 9 ball tournaments are played now.
