videos of runs

I'm raising my hand as well while blushing with shame. I've watched some of the vids and they are great, too bad I haven't lately been in the mood to watch pool, with the exception of developing my own game by recording it and analyzing my stroke and shot selection. Although there are many lurkers here and many videos Dennis and others frequently post don't get recognition, comments or even thanks after being posted, they are still stored for later use and will be a valuable asset for anyone happening to drop by in the 14.1 corner of this forum and also for us regulars. Good 14.1 material with top players shooting can be considered as an endangered species and it's great that Dennis and all the others are helping to rescue our awesome sport with their effort, which sadly often goes without a nice word or a simple thank you from the lurkers. There are times when I go on a mission with devouring all the 14.1 videos I can find and while waiting for that to happen, I go on to show my deepest gratitude for everyone putting their effort in sharing these videos and in this case furthermost to Dennis for his efforts. Thank you, Dennis!

Steve: I know you say something for most of them and I appreciate your response. I remember a few years back when we would get a new run, everyone would have something to say. I guess times change.:)

even when on dialup i was watching and commenting on pattern play et. but that got hostile responses from some members who don't want any input on the particulars of their play. IMHO that's the fun, learning part. anyone can say; 'good run'.

I agree with you, "meat by-product" :grin-square:.

I liked discussing the runs. I even would talk about runs and patterns executed by better players than me. If I was wrong in my thinking, they could correct me and I would learn. If I had happened upon a viable alternative, maybe they would learn a tidbit and get even better.

Steve and Danny's video presents opportunities for discussion as they are both very proficient. I've only watched it to the score of 42-28, so far but there is a lot of good stuff in there.

Dennis,

I appreciate all the work you've put in. I also know (as do others) the disappointment in working hard on something, and sometimes not hearing as many replies as you'd like. As others have said, and I've exhibited too, even though you appreciate something you sometimes don't think to say thanks. I think this is an important topic you brought up.

Thanks,
Steve

absolutely; i generally do not get along with people who can't learn from others or field a question about their method without getting defensive. ... my mom and i talk about this often and now refer to it as "hair dresser syndrome...... when my mom goes to get her hair done and proposes something to the hair genius, she has to be very cautious for fear of offending her professional sensibilities. despite competency, this 'genius factor' is found in all vocations. if a rocket scientist suggested to a garbage man how he could save time on the job, the garbage man would be irate.

steve: i think that your '143 and lose' vid is one of the best 14.1 vids available, mainly because of the insightful commentary. i have not had a chance however to finish it but will do so tonight.

IBC is like a church, but Red Shoes is a bank and one pocket joint and gets a bit louder. Take a listen ...

That was quite distracting. Another case for noise canceling headphones I guess. Were the guys drunk or just acting that way?

BTW thanks for posting the videos. I rarely have time to watch them completely but I do appreciate your efforts in providing them to us.

Not drunk. Just woofing at each other.

The best 4 tables are behind the ropes and we were on the fourth one.
The other three were action tables and the guys usually are playing one pocket and banks.

There are more guys sitting around yapping than playing and it gets louder the later it gets. Actually, when I miscued it was not at its loudest, but sometimes something somebody blurts out, just gets your attention. So I made a little yap back at him. Probably not a smart move. I hear a lot of guys might be packing in there, but that might just be a rumor.

I was wondering if anyone looks at the videos.

I took a week off work and worked 12-14 hour days down at Derby mainly to see and video some runs for us 14.1 enthusiasts.

I know others look at them but this is our home base and when I upload the vids we painstakingly created, we hear nothing.

Everyone is spoiled and no one cares about them anymore?

Let us know.

I don't know you Dennis and I don't know very many other AZB folks, but I do enjoy 14.1 and I very much enjoy watching the vids that you have been producing. Sorry for not commenting sooner. They are done quite well, I might add. I just wish that I could figure out how to save them to my Cdrive so I can watch on the train to and from work LOL! Keep up the good work and thanks for the entertainment!

It is easy enough to save them. You have to register at vimeo which is free and then when you log in, there is an option lower right to download the videos.

I have a 45 minute train ride each way and that is when I get to see them, too. :)

yes please

Hi Dennis,
I watch every single one of your vid's and allways find something new or interesting to me. When I go to practice I try to replay some of the layouts and patterns (it sometimes helps).
I watch, read, and listen to every single bit of data about 14,1. allways trying to adopt the goodies and get rid of any bad habits. I still try to keep the game alive and push my skills. after 40 years of 14,1 I think I begin to understand the game.

Please keep on posting.. I desperately need more

greetings from germany, Wolfgang

I must confess I had to miss all the recent videos, because at the moment I am forced to devote all my freee time to moving to other apartment. But as a pool video freak just like you Dennis I keep in mind that when dust settles I have to come back here and download them all to watch later! Of course I'm away from discussing the runs, but that's part of the price I have to pay for relocation ;)

wolfgang,

stop to underestimate yourself ^^

(untertreib net so :p, sonst meinen die noch du bist im anfangsstadium^^)

Dennis

A couple of us have bought sound protection earphones (the ones you see heavy equipment operators use) just for overly noisy nights. Our 14.1 league plays same nights as 8ball leagues and the noise, loud music affects my concentration at times.

I also do watch the videos you posted..but have to say I dont compliment on them often..just enjoy them.

Just saw this.

I've only watched one, the Darren Appleton run, and offered my comments. I usually don't have time to sit and watch a long run on the computer. (I'm too busy playing Whack-A-Mole with the CTErs over in the main room :-) But I do appreciate your efforts and when I have time I do plan on watching a couple more. Thanks, Dennis.

I'll have to admit I don't watch everything (not enough time or too lazy), but I have definitely enjoyed some of the videos you've uploaded and thank you for posting them! Too bad vimeo doesn't play on my iPhone! :(

I watch 'em. not all but quite a few, I just don't have lots to say sometimes.
Kinda bummed right now, I had to ship my computer back to my kid, it was his anyway I guess but this thing was superfast and I am really going to miss it.
thx for all you guys do
steven
