Hows the quality of a viking cue (i.e. craftsmanship, playability) as I'm thinking of getting one. How do they compare to scorpions, yes I know stupid question, but i like the way my scorpion plays.

To each his own I guess.

I think you will find vikings to be better constructed, with better materials.
Vikings are great production cues that hit pretty good. If you have the option, hit with a few before you buy one, so you can get the pick of the litter so to speak.

if it makes any difference

I want to buy the F02 model yes it is expensive but I really like the style and I am getting the stain changed to black and pearl changed to red through seyberts. If I buy it that is.

And thanks for the response.:)

I have a Friend who bought one at the SBE in Valley Forge. 2 weeks after he bought it, it got knocked over and the shaft cracked near the tip. Viking wouldn't stand behind it. He had to pay full price for a new shaft. Accidents happen I know, but if it cracked just falling to the floor, maybe the shaft had a flaw in it. I've seem dozens of cues (including unfortunately one of my own) take similar falls without major damage. He loves the cue (new shaft and all) but says he'll never buy another.

And that's all I know about Viking

This warranty is void if your Viking cue has after-market products or if it has been subject to mishandling, abuse, or worked on by an entity other than Viking Cue Mfg., Inc.

Why would Viking buy your friend a new cue if he can't keep it from hitting the floor? And why would he blame Viking when it cracks?

As far as I know, when dropped, all brand cues hit the floor at the same speed. Maybe your buddie needs to look in the mirror, and stop blaming others for his mistakes. Viking is a profit making organization; they are not going to simply give their products away.

I love my VM28, and play almost daily with it.

314 shaft is nice addition, too.

IMO they are among the best production cues available. As with all production cues if you buy a high-end one (400$-500$+) you have to accept a pretty big devaluation as soon as you leave the shop. So make sure you like the cue.
