Nothing else. I’ve just never been so disappointed in a cue. And also I was considering getting a Vikore shaft on my next one along with a regular shaft, but this just put a bad taste in my mouth. So now maybe only one shaft a vpro instead of the Vikore. Guess They’ll have to sell another Valhalla or 2 to make up for the extra shaft I don’t purchase with it.

Don't confuse V'hallas with Viking's US-made stuff. Different animal altogether.

I get it. The ones last night were an early run and all ordered together. They’ll get one more chance from me next time. Maybe it was just the run. And some of the responses/reviews here have been good on them.

Viking’s customer service is always top notch, and as stated earlier when I shoot it’s with a US made Viking. I Would really like to try out a US with Vikore shaft see how that one plays. Everyone gives it great reviews.

I have a Viking “Salesman Cue”
It’s all colors of stain, marbleite, and wraps. It’s a million colors. I’ll post a pic someday. I’ve never hit a ball with it. Pretty cool cue tho

What’s missing from it, I never noticed is the orange creme cycle color of the cue I borrowed in salt lake 🤔🤔

The funny thing is that Viking started as a custom builder in the early 60’s. If I recall correctly Viking was the name of the bowling ally that Gordon Hart Built cues in the basement. I guess becoming one of the most prolific cue companies in the history of pool is a failure if you try to cater to a market who has no intention of spending more than $120 on a cue.

You’re right in more than one way. no brown/bronze/copper looking color. That salesman cue is awesome. I’ve never seen one like it before. You should beat Texas Carom with it…….j/k j/k
Pretty sure all viking cues suck,
They can play great with the right setup. Maybe that’s why I’m so biased on these Valhalla ones.

I purchased 4 SP Valhalla cues for my dad when him and his wife purchased a piece of furniture table. Believe me they were far superior to the junk that came with the table. Also, color shafts are solid. Price wise I don’t think you can find a much better value.

Vikore shafts are solid. I play with a Runde butt and Searing shaft. I have no issue playing w a Viking w a vikore. Damn nice cue for the money in my opinion.

Have you seen the cost of baseball bats lately? It’s ridiculously high. Even $250 for the “best” bat seemed high 20 years ago. Now they are $500+!

Pool equipment has stayed around the same price point. So It does makes sense to have a budget cue on the market you are talking. I shouldn’t expect great quality for that price. What doesn’t make sense is how they can sell them for a little over $100 when a regular/standard vpro wood shaft costs that much. Are they using crappy wood etc? And they say they are made with same quality and standards, which they can’t be for that price if a regular Viking shaft is more than the entire cues.

Plus as I asked earlier, are they maybe trying to make the shafts somehow play more like a lower deflection cue because that’s the big thing in cues now? I can’t play with LD shaft. I hit waay to far off center and can’t aim right.

This is good to know. I’m kind of on a cue buying binge since starting back in. Maybe I’ll buy a cue for my girlfriend with a Vikore and try it before I go buy one for me. She’s more of a straight shooter anyway. She isn’t bad just doesn’t know all the shots yet. LD might suit her well. At $550 msrp It hopefully hits good.

You’re the one who reviewed? I read that a couple times. Awesome!

Ok so to sum it up. I looked on Viking’s site and found the possible difference. The Viking vpro shafts are listed as 5 year aged hard rock maple shafts while the Valhalla shafts are not listed as aged. The Valhallas are listed as hard rock maple. Maybe that’s the reason for the hit variance of the two cues. I don’t think they age the shafts for esses and giggles. There must be a good reason for it.

It was odd that the Valhallas had plastic joints and still hit harder than my metal to metals though. Maybe their weight distribution is a little different. Thought the weight system was the same between lines, but you never know and the Valhalla shafts might be heavier or something. That would probably give a stiffer feeling hit.

If you like them more power to you. If you play good with them even better. if/when you are looking for an upgrade from the same company, a regular Viking does seem to play a lot better. And is definitely an upgrade.
