I bought this over the weekend from an antiques dealer. It is extremely well made and has a patent date from 1915.

Anyone ever seen one, or know anything about it?

The 360 is for size comparison.

I want some of the cues that were repaired using that contraption.

By the way, did the antique dealer have any unplayed Balabushka's still in the original shipping tubes?

Unfortunately not..........................

Too bad.
I hear they are worth something if you have the original shipping materials.

Like on American Pickers, this repair machine would appeal to the antique tool collector, billiards collector,
or even my local cue repair guy...

I also posted these pics in the US Billiard History forum.

Mr. Bond posted the original patent papers.

You can say one thing for sure. They don't make things like they use to.

We have fantastic technology that makes for enjoyable living.

Too bad everything is throw away.

I saw a device identical the one you have, in a medical museum, in Clarksville, West Virginia.
Invented in the early 1800's, it was used to treat syphilitic patients at mental institutions. The sharpened blades, located around the center of the device, held the disease ridden member in a straight and rigid position in order for the doctor to insert a glass tube into the exposed opening.
Unfortunately it feel out of favor with the medical establishment because doctors were able to make more money reparing pool cues.

Looks like a medeival version of the rapid cue top sander, possibly with some other functions. Also looks like it could have performed some nazi war games...

I would keep it away from my cues.
