I just discovered a new VP3 DL (download) version 3.2.1.7... Costs $10 for the upgrade. Dosen't require inserting a cd. Loads very fast especially from GameSpy Arcade. Physics are awsome and seem acurate with masse' and jump shots. I'm told there is a way to play for real mula through paypal for those of us who like to play for the juice.

Any VP3 players here? What do you think of the new DL version?

never tried the pc game, but i have the ps2 game i like it alot but the aiming isn't too gooder i think. I know you can find the tracking lines in career mode on the pc with a few tricks.

I play a few times a week, both online and against the computer when my time is limited.

There are some very good, friendly, knowledgeable players from all over the globe who like to play.

My in game name is BadazzGregg, maybe we have played a few games?

LOL.. I just bought this game, and I can't aim at all! I have no real confidence that what I am aiming at is exact. Ahh.. I'm sure there are a few people who can run 100 balls on there, but I managed 20 the first day, and don't see myself doing much better than that! lol

in the ps2 game it is very hard to aim also, there is amplfie and fine tune, is this the same with the pc game? Josh Palmer there are cheat for the game i ran across for the pc game where you can use the tracking lines if you want that, i know i would use them if you can cheat on the ps2 game lol.

Hi Josh,

"and I can't aim at all!"

My aiming is starting to improve. After I think I have a shot lined up, I'll press "T" for Toggle Tracking, just to see how close my aim was. There is also "<" to toggle fine tune aiming.

I'm impressed with you twenty ball run. Better than me.

Are you guys sure we are comparing apples to apples?

I feel we are discussing two different games, Virtual Pool 3, and World Pool Championship 2004.

VP3, although is older, is the better of the two. WPC 2004 is a pain in the butt, IMO. Of course, I have both for the PC.

You can purchase it online for about $12US, and then play it online against some guys who can really shoot lights out. I was never good enough, but they have online tournaments as well, that people seem to take pretty seriously. As far as money action, I don't know much about that aspect of it, but, like anything else, I am sure that action is available, but you better bring mad VP3 skills to the table.

This game won't improve your stroke, but really helps your pattern play, thought process, and really keeps your mind in the game. There is not doubt this game has improved my real game, and consider it part of my practice regiment for my billiard games.

I couldn't find it in the stores like you used to be able to. I don't even have the original version, much less the upgrade. Do you know where you can get these off the internet.

BTW, if you really want a challenge, go to the CCB on the Billiards Digest forum and contact an alien named 'Patrick'. He is probably the worlds best at VP3. He uses a real cue somehow - it is hooked up to some device.

You don't even have to go that far. Some of the guys shooting at "night time" (remember lots of international shooters play as well) are studs. They can play really well.

I don't understand why they feel that it's acceptable to charge more than I paid for the game for an updated patch, and then call it "the latest game" when VP3 has been out for friggin' years!

I have the non "Curly" venison with Janette Lee, but they want to charge me full price for the same "New" VP3 game, more than I paid for the store sent CD with shipping?

I play the computer a lot while at work, i upgraded to the new version as well recently. I play online at home very minimally, I cant see playing a video game when I can just go in the next room and play it for real. But also, online I get to play against someone, a luxury i dont always have on the home table, so like I said, I will play online at home, but minimally.

Gregg,

I was able to upgrade from the "Jeanette Lee" version for about $10-$12 dollars. I just had to put the old cd in the drive when I downloaded the VP3 DL version.

The "Curley" version is a free upgrade.

They better not charge full price for an upgrade. They'll put themselves out of business in no time.

Hi, Delaware Lar. I'm going to have to come over to your place and check out this pool-playing on the web. BTW, are you going to Orange Ball tonight? If so, I'll see you there! I heard they had almost 30 last week! :)

Hi JAM

The VP3 internet play is definately worth checking out. Come on over. Bring Kieth with you. Only, if he sees sports on my new HDTV, then he'll want you to get one, no matter how much $$$$.

Tonight is the Laurel tournament, where all the best players go; Mike Davis, Danny Green, your boufriend, and others. Wednesday night is the Orange Bowl tournament.

I'll probably see you two nights in a row. Can you handle it?

I use to play VP3 a long time ago. Back before the doctor told me I had to give up golf. I had played a lot of pool earlier in my life but when I got married I felt I should give up either pool or golf and golf won, except that I still played VP2 and then VP3 online. I was an avid golfer (4 to 5 times a week) but after the doctor told me that "golf is hard on a good back so I had no business playing it in the first place" I decided to play pool again and thus gave up playing VP3 online.

Virtual Pool 3 came out I think in 2000. It was ahead of it's time then and beat the rest of the computer pool games hands down. Very realistic. Even today there is no other computer pool game that is even close to it. When you use the 1st person view from behind the stick it looks just like it does when your holding your stick. Want to find out if it is your aim that is the problem or if it is your stoke. Play VP3, cause aim is what you have to do. The stoke you know is going to be straight. You can adjust the speed of the stoke but it will be straight.

It had one issue, but no other computer pool game has been able to over come this either. Give in the cushions. Best way for me to explain it I think would be to refer to some of the trick shots you see on 'Trick shot magic'. When they place the cue ball froze to the rail then freeze a ball to the cue ball perpendicular to the rail. They shoot the cue ball toward the rail knowing that the rail will give and the cue ball will come out from behind the frozen ball without hitting it. Where this comes into a normal game is when you are banking a object ball that is frozen or very close to being frozen to the rail and the cue ball is at that angle that if you hit it firm with inside english, you should be able to compress the object ball to the rail and avoid the double kiss. This is not possible in VP3. The rails don't give.

Other than this the physics of VP3 are perfect as far as I can tell. A lot of online players say that it has helped there real game. I wouldn't go that far, but I don't think it would hurt your game either.
