Here's some old timer advice..

I've been asked where I've been for the last several years. My vision went down hill with cataracts to a point of legal blindness. Recently I finally qualified for eye surgery to implant new lenses and remove the cataracts in both eyes. Technology has sure changed over the last decade and I now have 20/20 in both eyes and started playing again. I'm not a great player by any standards now, but I so love the game and so happy to be a active member of the forum again. I see things have changed a bit for the better although once in awhile I still put on the popcorn...some will get that :). Anyway, the point is, don't be afraid to see your eye doctor often if you are experiencing vision difficulties. Your game will thank you. It's not the pool cue lol ! i'm 70

and with me its not the eyes, yesterday i played 1p on my home table with a buddy, we played about 4 hrs, my table is on a concret slab, just covered with a very thin indoor-outdoor style carpet, i play barefooted, by the end of the secission, my legs and feet were done..

getting old sucks, but it sure beats the alternative

glad your eyes got better

You might consider changing the flooring to the 'rubber' indoor/outdoor mats that they sell at the big box chain stores. It is about an inch thick and great to walk on. It is linked together and quite inexpensive, easy to cut and simple to install. I constructed a sound proofed room for a friend at his home three years ago and the stuff still looks great. It is forgiving underfoot and impervious to water, his table is in his basement so flooding was a possibility. The basement was also the reason for the sound proofing..

Getting Lasik was the greatest thing I've done for myself in like 20 years, and it was the best thing that ever happened to my game. Before, I had to play either glasses, which would get stolen, lost, or would break, costing more than Lasik did, or without glasses at all... And without glasses I would just see a blurry object ball, and a double cue ball... I still played it out, but it was annoying.

Once I had Lasik, two weeks later it was unreal, like switching my life to Hi-Def, and I had a huge jump in my shot making. Now it's been a few years, so I could use a touch-up, and I will do it as soon as my life allows for it. As I said, it was the best single thing I'd done for my game.
