In honor of Bumpypickle and Klopek,

I just gave Austin 25 more votes. He's within 0.19% of taking second place!

Me too!! I figure Klopek'r and Bumpy Cucumber are actually pulling for Austin because I can guarantee that this thread is getting Austin more votes than he may have without the bashing. It's actually pretty funny! I could really care less who plays but Austin is the best campaigner (is that a word??) so he gets my votes!

changing all my votes to efren from now on. i don't want to see a 14 year old who hasn't earned his way yet. Sorry guys, just don't like freebies.

FYI the voting ends tonight at midnight CT.

Could this end up being an Efren vs Austin "Challenge Match"?

Yes, that is a prediction and no I don't want to bet on it.

Maybe its just me, but I applaud Austin for his willingness to go after something he wants. He is a member of the tour and eligible for this match right? What makes him less deserving of this spot than anyone else?

Maybe the "who campaigns for themselves the hardest" challenge match?.

Yeah, it is kind of like he is running for President of the Sophomore class in high school. :D

That would be very sad in my opinion.

Same here.

Yes he is a member and there is NOTHING that makes him LESS deserving like you said. I think I'm going to go vote for Austin today.

This is just a hunch on my part, but I have a feeling that the two players selected for the IPT match will be American. :D

Logistically, it is just plain easier to get the Americans up there to Chicago, where this match is occuring. :p

What's the date of this thingie again?!

It must be working well.. Austin Murphy is currently in FIRST place just a few hundredths of a point ahead of Voldes

As this competition was open to all members of the tour they are all equals. Right?

he's arguably less deserving because he's done nothing in the pool world yet and there other players on the list who have done a lot more in the game.

however the fair enough counter-point is whoever has done whatever for pool is irrelevant - it's all about who people want to watch play - and under that criteria they are all equal.

personally i wanted to see Gerda vs Earl. that would have been a high quality entertaining match which would have it all. first choice i wanted was Jasmin btw but she pulled out. that would have been even better.

oh well we still have the undercard match!

IMO that is part of the problem in pool today. If you dont tell people about something how are they supposed to know? Austin, Karl and Darren should be commended for coming to a public forum and going after what they want.

As for Austin actually playing, I have no opinion one way or the other due to the fact that I could care less about anything the IPT does. Personally I think the votes are meangingless anyway.

So this is not bashing or mudslinging? What did you mean by you thinking the votes are meaningless? Please correct me if I'm wrong but weren't you suggesting that there was a fix? Didn't you meant that KT would make any match he wanted to regardless of the votes?

Your quote:

I dont see it as slinging mud or bashing. The IPT made the decisions they made and have to live with the repercussions and opinions that those decisions generate. Just as TAR does. TAR tries to make decisions based on knowing that fact.

Would you feel it was mudslinging or bashing if someone publicly made an assumption that the Action Report matches were fixed?

Enough already. Give the opportunity to earn money in our sport to a pro who has paid their dues.
Well, B. P., your clever reverse psychology trick has been successful. Austin has taken the lead. Good work. Pickle Power!

I saw Austin play 2-3 years ago at the US Bar Table Championships in Reno and he was more than impressive then. He was keeping up with ALL the champs including Orcullo. Even though he is a kid, I hope people give him the opportunity and give him that chance, plus a vote or two;) (or 10).

Good luck Austin! I hope you get the chance to play!
