Walking Up to a Straight in Shot

When I'm confronted with this, I know I can (with center ball) accurately only go directly forward and directly rearward with good control using....(draw or follow).
Often tho I Must move whitey allot more left or right of the shot line shooting a Straight in shot, here's what helped me.

I naturally tend to swing outward Slightly on my final swing.

By hitting this in/out final stroke I find it helpful incorporating it into my shot feel/shape.... when shooting straight ins.
I'll walk up to the shot slightly from the right OR slightly from the left, to see which shot feels the cue ball movement I need.

SL, you need a high speed draw stroke to get shape.
Obj. ball is 4 feet away from the cue ball, two feet from the pocket.

Do you have a tendency to miss in a common manner when you amp up your swing?

I do when I need to hit the shot with allot of speed.

My cue tip goes slightly right too often.

Power draw is the only time I notice the skew - because of the miscue but it's probably the same thing.
The one adjustment that helped was the Ray Martin tip. Shoot as if the cueball isn't there. In other words, instead of stroking at the draw spot on the ball, stroke at the same thing one ball past it. This way the ball is gone before the stroke distortion.
 
i can see moving cueball a little to the side but not considerably without cheating the pocket.

So do you shorten your Bridget distance ?
 
Depends on too many factors. Sometimes my stance is higher so there isn't a lot of play. Other times I may be holding the stick longer and in that mode, it matters less where the bridge is. Haven't perfected any draw that requires oomph so it's all experimental. What does work is oh wait, I see what you're getting at and NO I don't shorten my bridge for cue accuracy and certainly not when power is required. The way the Martin method works for me is I don't add the flinch in anticipation of the extra spin.

What I do is ever so slight.
Walk up to the shot line from my left.
I then rest my handle hand on my hip before I get down.
