***WARNING***DO NOT deal with blowfish16

The problem here isn't whether or not someone has been a member for years or has an ITrader of 50+, it's the way transactions are conducted. There are plenty of ways to protect yourself as either a seller or a buyer but the most prevalent in my opinion, is PayPal. Don't send payments as a gift unless you have confidence in the individual. Conduct your business with people who are verified and have addresses that are confirmed. As a buyer, the same applies... only send money to verified accounts. Also, you have the ability to tag each payment with a message that should include exact specifics of what you're buying and selling. Make sure there is a record that ties everything together.

I can only recollect two or three transactions in the past ten years where either the other party or myself had to try and make something right regardless of fault. I had once sold a Jackson 1/1 to a gentleman in Florida with a new and used shaft. He managed to cross-thread a brand new shaft and although it wasn't funny at the time, I still laugh a little bit when his solution to the problem was a full refund and he gets to keep the cue.

I don't need your name, I don't need your address and I don't need your phone number. I need common sense and the ability to walk away if I feel uncomfortable buying or selling and item. Last but not least... Not everyone is an asshole out to get someone else. Even if something negative happens to you, learn from it and always keep in mind that honest people will more times than not attract more honest people.

Real names and even locations make it easier to connect the dots when dealing with potential scammers.
Things are much different then they were ten years ago.
One of the biggest scammers of all time on AZ had over 40-positive Itrader before he was outed, another guy had over 200 before he went bad in a big way, so I agree that common sense is the most important thing, but real names & locations are also important.
In this day & age I want to know the real name of the person I am dealing with during some point in the transaction.

I'm really happy that I was able to conduct my first purchase yesterday and it went pretty flawless so far. I haven't actually received the shaft I purchased yet but did already get a tracking number.

Since I'm new to the board I paid through paypal with my Amex card right away and the member I'm dealing with has a positive 2 iTrader rating but has also only been around a month or so like me. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping everything goes smooth and as planned. However if it doesn't Amex is usually pretty good about refunding money to it's members. So I tried to safeguard myself in as many ways as possible.

I can certainly understand why there is doubt around dealing with 'new people' some of us are good guys though.

I am curious, pm me the name of the person you have dealing with. I might be able to help you, I made my own list so let's see.

Escrow.....

I'm not gonna escrow an $80 item. Like I said, I took a gamble and lost. Not a big deal to me, but it's Bob I feel bad for (although he has means of getting his $$$ back).

As an update.....I e-mailed this Jason stooge yesterday and demanded my money back (heck, it's worth a try, right?). He e-mailed me back and said he shipped the cue and gave me a 22-digit Priority Mail tracking number. I went on the USPS tracking website, entered the number and it said this number was issued on 3/6/2013 (yesterday) and there was NO delivery location specified.

Damn, this is the THIRD time he has said he has mailed the cue in 3 weeks.

This sh*t's gettin' funny!!!

I recently made my first purchase from a guy with the screen name "bad english". Havent received tracking info yet after 3 days. Anyone dealt with this guy before? Hopefully my first experience here will be a positive one.

If you go to the post office they can track all packages, regardless of whether or not tracking was paid for. They recently installed a new system and tracking numbers are issued for every package, for their own benefit. They can quickly confirm whether or not it is a good tracking number and all of the associated information. I hope that helps.

I mailed out three packages and this is exactly how it works now. I also will send with insurance and Sig Conf if the package is valuable.

I posted it because I use it all the time! I even used it on girlfriends!

Sorry to hear y'all getting ripped off. I have bought many items off forums between 1,500 and 2,000. Plus alot of eBay buying. All it takes is some commen sense. Like everyone is saying. This is no where near as bad as some of the scamming I have seen on some paintball websites. Hope y'all get all money back and something happens to the scammer

Jason sent my Sly b/j out Wed. 3/6 USPS track&confirm says delivery date Sat. 3/9.tomorrow. Will post when i recieve cue. thx.

All Priority Mail automatically has a tracking number. First class, parcel post, or media mail does not come with tracking, but it can be purchased for under a dollar.

Nice.. it sounds like you have a valid tracking number and it sounds like you are going to get the cue.

Hopefully the other folks are made whole too.

I have dealt with Bad English before. He lives very close to where I live. He was honest with me. He came by and we did a face to face deal. I sold him a 2x4 cue case. He seemed very honest to me.
