watched color of money for the first time

but i never seen the hustler yet.
is this the reason i didnt like the ending? i wanted him to play tom cruise at the end and beat him sooooo frikkin bad!!!
what was the point of them ending the movie like that? i would understand if the color of money 2 came out or something.
or were they trying to steer the pool crowd away from the hustling scene and fix the damage they created with the hustle movie?

" i never seen the hustler yet."....back in my military service days, in the jungle. When on guard duty we would check out a suspect approaching our post. Sometimes one of our re con patrols would forget the Pass Word (very rare). We would then ask some questions that only a red blooded real American might know. Like who won the world series and other man type stuff.

Me: Halt! Who goes there?... Him: Private Smith.... Me: Who won the last game in the "Hustler"... Him: WHO/WHAT?.... ME: KAA POW!!!

Totally worth watching this whole clip but watch at 4:27

If I'm not mistaken it looks like Vince hits the nine ball first in a trick shot style carom shot then pumps his fist like he just won the game.

Please tell me I'm wrong and that Mike Sigel wouldn't have set up this shot for him.

Why wouldn't they set up a shot like that? He did pump his fist after the combination.

I don't see what the big deal is about it. That scene nearly sums up the whole movie though.

You didn't read my post all the way. I thought that Vince shot straight into the nine which would be a foul. I didn't see the two since I was viewing on my iPhone. My bad.

no doubt he hit the 2ball 1st

Man, the more I think about it the whole movie was so great, I mean the Color of Money.

So great.

"It's a wash, you're not in the backroom playing with baby dolls, you're in the big leagues now"

"You go into a shoe store with $180 you come out with one shoe"

"Money won is twice as sweet as money earned"

"Nine Ball? That's not tough, just some balls and a stick man, you wanna know what's tough? Stocker that's what."

"Can you make any MONEY playing Stocker?"

"You know what I can do with Stocker? In ten years I can get into West Point from Stocker, it's all coming down to video game reflexes, that's what I can do with Stocker."

"Eddie, let me ask you something and I want you to be real honest with me, do you think I need to lose some weight?" After Eddie loses to a hustler.

"Win one more game game and you're gonna be humping your fist for a long time".

I mean seriously, how can anyone watch the Color of Money and not see Scorsese's brilliance as a director. The nuance is just incredible. Just incredible.

They go on the road and Eddie goes to a room that he hasn't been to in so long that he doesn't even know it's closed. Watch the scene. They get in and up the stairs and it's all furniture and junk storage, but the pool table lights are still hanging covered in dust.

This movie was art, as much as Rosen's Hustler was. It's easy to look at Tom Cruise and dismiss the movie outright but he played it perfect. Everyone played their part to absolute perfection.

TCOM and the Hustler can stand shoulder to shoulder as great movies and great pool movies in my opinion. TCOM wasn't just good, it was/is a great piece of cinema.

I completely agree with you you JB Cases. The Color of Money is a phenomenal movie.

If I were God I would have the knowledge that 90% of the haters of the movie actually were very entertained when they first saw it.

The problem is that the Tom Cruise haterade band wagon is too easy to jump on. I personally have really enjoyed most movies he's been in.
