Watchez Says Goodbye--az Can Read Your Private Messages

Does it seems rational to post messages on a board that are critical of the people who run the board? Am I missing something here?

From what I can tell from your picture, maybe a couple of marbles!:D

Doesn't make sense to me. What part of private
don't you understand? One more excess of the
Patriot Act!

How could you possibly expect communication, including emails, but especially PM's on a public forum, to be completely private?

Your employer can see any emails you send from work if they bother to. The gov. can subpeona emails, computer records, encrypted stuff et. al. so obviously someone has to have access to it.

When you are putting text into somebody's database, obviously that somebody can see it if they choose to.

The fact that logistically Mike can't see PMs right now is irrelevant. To have an expectation of absolute privacy for any written computer-based message is extremely naive.

It's reasonable to hope for privacy and hope that your information won't be shared publicly, but any rational person has long since learned not to put anything damaging in an email or pm to anybody.

Cheers,
RC

Well, i don't mean to change horses in mid stream, but this thread started out about being banned.
I and hundreds of others, read and watched the back and forth with Pain_Pool.
Mr. Wislon has a locked thread at the top of this page stating that he would ban P_P if restitution on the cue in question wasn't made by 10:20a.m. (E.S.T.) on Nov. 3rd. (TODAY)
The suspense is more than I can stand... WHAT HAPPENED ?
Doug
( I didn't know which thread to place this in & didn't want to start a new one )

What troubles me is that you don't start off by saying "As far as I know, it is possible for admins to read PMs in Vbulletin". Instead, you run rampant with 'I know Mike and Wilson can do it. I have proof. blah blah blah'
When someone I trust that runs a msg board (racing forum) that doesn't know you, Wilson, or the situation, tells me that yes, PM's can be read (and by your own admission could) why should I start out saying "As far as I know"?

The same as you went off over how you absolutely knew that I was APA7 and that I was logging into the forums under aliases to stir up trouble.
If you have proof of this, please post my quote. FWIW, when Jeff was a mod here, he claims to have found your IP attached to screen names. I'll fully admit that there are two screen names that would not have surprised me to find out that they were you. However, I do not recall ever stating this in the public forum. I do recall talking about it to a couple of friends in PM's and emails.

To be fair and honest, when I get home from work tonight, I will personally go through my posts from that time frame to see if I ever said such a thing in the public forum. If it's out there, I will post it here.

Despite all the grand conspiracy theories, I doubt there is anyone who can say we have not done our best to be fair.

Watchez posted PMs that were cruel and hurtful.

I called him on it and got attacked and accused of reading thier PM ( Timberly and his ) and again, she goes on tilt.

My job it to just give 'em enough rope.

Guys, no mistake, it is time to clean up some around here.
I've been patient as I know how and asking alone isn't enough.

Nobody listens until someone gets banned.

Is it that hard to play nice?

Tap tap tap.

And a little primer on the whole privacy rights/free speech thing on the internet, for the 78932981923th time -

Such rights are only there for individuals as far as the GOVERNMENT goes. The GOVERNMENT is not supposed to pass laws affecting free speech. This is a privately owned web forum. The owner of it, and the people he chooses to grant similar access to, can do whatever he wants with it. You (and I) have as much privacy as the folks in charge allow us to have. If you don't like it, you don't have to participate - no one is twisting your arm.

Expecting PMs to be 100% private and secure is like expecting a hand written note, given to a friend to be passed to another friend, to be 100% private and secure. It's only secure if the friend doing the delivery chooses not to open it and read it.

OK, I guess to be fair you will post a recent picture of yourself so we can all judge whether you might be a pot calling a kettle......:D

You know, I may be about the only person on the board using an avatar that is from a very recent photo. BTW, my reason for using my own photo as an avatar hasn't panned out that well so far. I thought it would help me run into AZB'ers at Reno and the coming DCC, but I didn't meet up with any regular AZB posters at Reno.

Come on Bill, I said "CHEESE!" (I know you meant for the most part, but it is just an excuse to put my mug up there one more time to scare the mice away from the computers :) Oh wait! We need those! ;)

How could I forget?!:o And I should remember you because, IIRC, you bought one of my interview CDs. BTW, I also lived in Fort Worth for a while (1969-1972) while at TCU, but that's a bit before your time.

You, Donovan, and who else????????????

Wow, can I claim pre-senile dementia as an excuse? I've seen your avatar a zillion times, but nothing clicked when I tried to think of others using a recent photo. Maybe the three of us are the only ones on AZ who aren't ashamed to show our faces? Wait.....I think I left out Straybullet? Does this constitute a total highjack of this thread???? Probably.

My photo is actually from a few months ago. Since then I have had plastic surgery and I am currently sporting the "pancake princess" look as depicted below. This picture was taken this morning as I was leaving after working the nightshift at the local Waffle House.

Find it hard to believe that you post things in pm's expecting total privacy. This is on the internet for heavens sake. If you want something to be private, say it to the mirror.

I am aware of this and never stated otherwise.... <edit> I'm not going to waste my time explaining what I said. My post was clear enough.
