why in the world are we so entertained by watching the antics of earl play pool. people scream about the down fall of pool, and yet we applaud this type of behavior. pool, at one time was a very formal sport. jacket and ties were the attire to wear when playing. i know that times have changed but not our morals. we should not support pool in this manner. if this is the kind of games you enjoy then you should beg for an earl vs dippy match so as you may get all the crazy stuff in one clean antic filled match. sorry, just cant stand to fade this anymore.

I've been thinking about this quite a bit actually.
I've never heard of Earl hurting anyone but himself. Does he say things that are out of line? Yes, he does.....and...
Does he act somewhat strange? Yes, he does...and...
Bottom line is... Earl is entertaining and his play is outstanding...
IF his remark about SVB's hearing was out of line, then that is for Shane to decide. We may never know, but I would say that if Earl was getting a pounding on the table, tensions would not have been so high...

You/we should be thankful we have an Earl Strictland in the pool world. He's not my favorite player but he is very entertaining and GOOD for the sport of pool. He fits the mold of what John McEnroe did for tennis and Mohammed Ali did for boxing. Give the guy a break...enjoy the show as that's all it is.

IMHO Pool need a high profile player like Golf's Tiger Woods. A person who could bring people to the game of pool. A person who could attract Corporate America to support & sponsor Pool in both the amateur level, and at the pro level. IMHO Earl has not done much to bring people, or sponsorship to Pool. He get press, mostly BAD PRESS!

Most people play pool for fun and entertainment. It is not looked at as a serious sport. More dippys in the world may translate into more "action" later on. All the people who crave action in a pool hall should encourage it not look down on it. No different than making fun of Bangers. Bangers pay most my bills so they are my favorites.
There is no reason to apologize, in fact I love it when people go off on a rant and then apologize in the end, if you were really sorry you would not have started this thread in the first place.
