Mods, if this does not go here please let me know...

I recently set about buying a cheapish cue as a wedding gift for my future bro in law. He is not a serious player and had never owned a cue. I got some great advice here and decided on a pechauer jp model i found on sale by Billiard Pro Shop:

Anyway, i sent payment through Amazon, and after a couple days without receiving any kind of shipping confirmation, i sent the seller an email making sure they received payment and requesting an expected shipping date.

I received an email back from someone named Casie and it turns out the seller made an innocent mistake and put a picture of the wrong cue on amazon...they didn't have the cue i purchased. She in cluded in the email some similar cues to the one i had originally wanted that she would sell for the original price. I was at work and didn't get a great look at the cues she sent, but i could tell a couple of them were wrapless with a nice contrast in the stains.

I replied that the first cue in the picture looked fine and would work for me. I thanked her for working to get the deal done, she replied that she was glad i was happy and i would have my cue on Friday.

Now the unbelievable part. I open the cue this evening and not only was the alternate cue i picked out a pechauer pro series [microchipped and all] but it also had the crown jewel pro shaft. This cue is simply gorgeous. The price tag was over $700 bucks!

She included a handwritten note that said simply "Dear Seth, this cue is a steal for $280, i hope you love it"

These kinds of things NEVER happen to me. I'm usually the guy bending over and taking the short end of a deal.

Tl;dr: Casie @ Billiard Pro Shop is the nuts and just made me a customer for life.

Cassie and.her husband David are great people. I stop in there occasionally . I have bought 4 cues and a case from them. Also gloves and chalk. Last time I was in there was on a Friday afternoon needing a tip relaced. David said leave the shaft and it would be ready Monday. I replied I was playing in a tournament the next day and he grabbed the shaft and replaced the tip right then for me.

I wouldn't think so, a crown jewel is a expensive cue for someone who's not to serious. It's probably gonna be mistreated some also. Maybe get another stick to give him and if he sticks with it give this one in a year or so?????

Agreed, I wouldn't give such a nice cue to someone who is just learning, or not really into the game. Keep it for yourself, and get him something nice around the $200-$300 price range.

That's pretty awesome. Without a doubt I would be a return customer. As far as the chip, I have them installed in everyone one of my cues. Don't forget to register it on the snagg site with pics.

Give him the McDermott. It's an upgrade from the players IMO. No need for him to start off with a brand new cue.

In your other thread I mentioned I did the same for a buddy of mine as a wedding gift. I previously gave him 3 other used cues of mine before he got this new custom. Had to trust him to continue to play & take care of it properly first.

So, did you give it to your buddy or decide to keep it for yourself? We need an update lol.

Keep that one for yourself and get him another one. From the same place.

I would definitely NOT give him your McDermott. Way too many horror stories of people wishing they hadn't given away their favourite cue.

Wow - beats my story hands down.
Seyberts was out of the $250 JP, and let me pick a $300 one instead. (but didn't charge me difference)

Very nice cue by the way.

That is the reason I've sent business to them for going on 30 years back when Bill Randolph had the shop over on Mendenhall.

If it's still in their catalog,I have one of the ebony Schon plain janes and a Schon SLX sneaky pete that came from there as well. Tommy D.

So yeah, it really wasn't that hard of a decision. There is no way he would take care of or appreciate this level of cue for a first cue. :embarrassed2:

I am going to order him either a players hxt or a cuetech from Billiard pro shop. I will gladly send them my business for the foreseeable future.

I agree. The mcdermott is special to me because it was an anniversary gift from my wife. Plus it is a great player and fits me well. I need to upgrade the shaft tho.

At league last night a player on the other team says she wants to show me something. I follow her to their table and she picks up a cue a hands it to me.

It just so happened to be a pechaur similar to this one with a crown jewel pro shaft she bought at billiard pro last weekend.

I have not been there in a few months and trying to stay away as much as possible...really dont need another cue but you guys are really tempting me
