This event, which seems to be scheduled for July 20-23, 2023, will be hosted in Turkey. I haven't heard anything since the original announcement in May. I think it will be national teams in pool, snooker and carom.
Almost certainly. That's the only pool that's been in the World Games under the WCBS.Will pool mean 9 Ball ?
Couple of things to note, this is a "World Championship" but a WCBS Championship event. Also, and I don't think it's in the release but I've heard it will feature four disciplines: Pool, Snooker, Carom and HeyBall. This event, which seems to be scheduled for July 20-23, 2023, will be hosted in Turkey. I think it is a national teams event, meaning each player only plays one discipline.I’m glad they are doing this. It’s a good cross promotional idea. Unfortunately I doubt we will get any top snooker players since it seems they are in partnership with the IBSF. It’s too bad because I would have have been very intrigued to see Mark Selby try to play 3 cushion, assuming this isn’t a team event.
Crap.I think it is a national teams event, meaning each player only plays one discipline.
I would love to see something like that. I can play pool, I'm so so on 3c and no experience at Snooker. But to have one person excel at all three would be amazingCrap.
My first thought was individuals playing all three disciplines. That would be phenomenal!
FiddlesticksI think it is a national teams event, meaning each player only plays one discipline.
For those, like me, who had no idea what this referred to, HeyBall is the rebranding of Chinese 8-ball, which is played on a nine-foot table with snooker-like pockets.... I've heard it will feature four disciplines: Pool, Snooker, Carom and HeyBall.
It depends on how many tables you have. With 16 countries participating (48 players) and two tables for each discipline, I think you can complete the round robin stage in two long days. Double the number of tables and it's easy. Not practical to cram multiple disciplines into 4 days.
There will be trade off where they have to cut number of games played per match or reduce size of field to small number or do without a group round robin stage.

I think 16 would be enough. I doubt that there are more than 10 countries that could field teams strong in all three disciplines. The first year is likely a proof of concept.16 countries only only. That is not very global. I assume they have qualification stages so actually more countries participating
