WCBS Multi-discipline World Championships, 2023

If the WCBS handles this as poorly as they handled the 2022 World Games here in the U.S., then count me out. The WCBS, WPA, and BCA have a particular knack for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Those institutions and most of their representatives have always been more interested in lining their pockets than contributing to the actual growth of the game. The U.S. needs to kill of the BCA and create something that is a true non-profit aiming to grow the game similar to the USGA in golf – We don't need a glorified trade show that can't even manage to handle effectively and consistently ranking American players in a timely and objective manner.

Hunter Lombardo and Tyler Styer representing the U.S. in the World Games was laughable, but with the BCA in bed with Predator, the only way to get ranked is to play in a Predator infomercial.

The event is historic and representation and records will be setting a precedence for the future. A multi disciplinary team sounds like XC (cross country). My enthusiasm for the event is what should the designs on the medals, trophies or plaques look like.

When a team wins having a ring, medal or institutional trophy is presented. Who presents it and what is presented matters but is not publicly advertised.

The drama with potential is how can you catch someone cheating in a billiards event. Fitness sports its clear but with cuesports the ruling bodies seem unsure on what or how to regulate it.

This event, which seems to be scheduled for July 20-23, 2023, will be hosted in Turkey. I haven't heard anything since the original announcement in May. I think it will be national teams in pool, snooker and carom.

Couple of things to note, this is a "World Championship" but a WCBS Championship event. Also, and I don't think it's in the release but I've heard it will feature four disciplines: Pool, Snooker, Carom and HeyBall.

I’m glad they are doing this. It’s a good cross promotional idea. Unfortunately I doubt we will get any top snooker players since it seems they are in partnership with the IBSF. It’s too bad because I would have have been very intrigued to see Mark Selby try to play 3 cushion, assuming this isn’t a team event.

I think it is a national teams event, meaning each player only plays one discipline.

Funny to me , Snooker don't do anything for an old man except lots of walking, 3 rail don't have any holes, 9 ball has all needed pockets, sound and pretty girls... So I think that they got one wright... Confederation I don't know... Ian Andersen I don't know... We have enough problems in our own world... Guy

Not practical to cram multiple disciplines into 4 days.
There will be trade off where they have to cut number of games played per match or reduce size of field to small number or do without a group round robin stage.

For those, like me, who had no idea what this referred to, HeyBall is the rebranding of Chinese 8-ball, which is played on a nine-foot table with snooker-like pockets.

It depends on how many tables you have. With 16 countries participating (48 players) and two tables for each discipline, I think you can complete the round robin stage in two long days. Double the number of tables and it's easy.

16 countries only only. That is not very global. I assume they have qualification stages so actually more countries participating

I think 16 would be enough. I doubt that there are more than 10 countries that could field teams strong in all three disciplines. The first year is likely a proof of concept.
