Hi all,
before a couple of days I purchased a new Mezz cuestick (AXI-K) with the WD700 and the wavy joint. This cuestick shall become my all day player, just a well working cue, nothing else. But I've got a small problem right now, concerning the right tip for this cuestick.
The Triangel-milkduds, that I used to make for my Cem-Player before, worked perfectly and gave me most consistency and reliability with a medium / mediumhard feeling. (Shaft diameter 12,2 mm, slightly conical taper.). My Cem-player is still my heart's favourite because of it's extraordinary feeling, but the deflection is a bit too high, and I don't want to change anything else in the moment at that cuestick.
At the WD700 was a Moori M installed, but the cuestick gave me much too much spin and thus it was hard to control. So I thought, OK, doesn't matter, and replaced the Moori by my favourite Triangel-milkdud (They are most consistent from tip to tip due to my procedure of soaking and pressing, this is like a fundamentation, very constant hardness and elasticity).
But I was totally astonished when I played with it. The grip and control was like I was used to, but it felt much harder like I have it on my former player. There was also a certain "pling" to be heared, like it is at hard tips.
My first thought was: OK, maybe not mounted well or maybe too hard for this cuestick, so I replaced it by a medium-soft pressed Triangel-dud. The "pling" was much less, but still to be heard, and it felt only a bit softer. I also recognized at both Triangel-duds, that the spin-efficieny was a little worse than at my former player.
So I made the next test: I installed a dry pressed elkmaster --> "pling" was still existing and played like the medium-soft pressed Triangel-dud.
Next trial: Installed an unpressed selected Elkmaster: This combination is now nearly perfect. Plays medium, has nearly no "pling" and gives spin as i was used to my former player. And no mushrooming! This is the evidence that the WD700 is much more flexible in the front end than my former 12,2 mm shaft. But I want to have a slighty smoother sound, and I am thinking about two ways:
- 1st option is to make soft-pressed milkduds out of selected Elkmaster. I know this works well, but due to the pretty varying consistency of the Elkmaster the finally pressed duds my vary also in their consistency.
- Has anybody tried to make soft-pressed Triangel-milkduds? I am scetip a bit because the Triangel originally is a pretty hard tip, and does it give a good base to create soft milkduds??
- 2nd option is installing a multilayered tip, that is not a spin-catapult, but feels medium / medium-hard at the WD700. But here I am not sure what is the according multilayered tip, because I don't have much playing-experience with multilayered tips.
So I think about following multilayerd tips that might be well controllable T THE WD700 while feeling not too hard:
- tiger sniper
- tiger onxy
- Kamui S brown
- G2 M
I would be glad if anyone can share similar experience with an appropriate tip for a WD700.
By the way: With everyhing else of that Mezz cuestick I am very very happy.
Much cue for few money! ;-)
Thanks a lot
