Mike, I used HostHost for a while - they use RackSpace. I had a dedicated server for $99 a month, cheaper by the year. Best hosting company by far that I ever used.

Rackspace is very good.... down here in my neck of the woods is CNIWeb... http://www.cniweb.net they are a very very good enterprise level host that offers 99.9% uptime.

I don't think I found a single thread that wasn't hijacked & flamed. The only other msg boards that I've ever participated in were racing forums and the format and group of people were similar to here. After my visit to the other place, I must say that for the first time ever, I feel as if I've lived a sheltered life.drivermaker said:ROTFL.....it's definitely a wild scene. I thought I did something wrong to my PC cause I just finished doing alot of maintenance. I tried 4 different browsers and it still did'nt work. I tried Norton Go Back and Windows System Restore and tried restoring my pc a day behind - nothing. I used 2 different antivirus software to see if I've been attacked - nothing. I tried my DSL and dial-up connection - nothing. Then I gave up and wondered what to do for the rest of the day - nothing.

I'll put my $0.002 in, go check out blacksun (www.blacksun.ca). I've known these guys for a few years and did a bit of network consulting for them (to them ?). They are for real, with lots of bandwidth from several providers (using BGP), using Cobalt servers heavily automated with a very sophisticated management system (for clients and their management staff).
Beware of hosting services that are really brokers for other peoples services.

Hmm, I thought it was running pretty good today. I can see that it has slowed down over the past few months, but not any more today than usual.

The sad thing is virtually all the crap on RSB for the last 6 months or so has a single person as it's source. Being a public newsgroup there is nothing anyone can practically do to stop this. The good thing is that person has been permanently banned from this board, which is why you are seeing a lot more of us RSB folk here recently.
