Hello Everyone,

We had a field of 32 players in our weekly Friday Night 8 Ball Tournament at the OC Sports Grill this week. Thank you all for your ongoing support. Let's keep it going. Here are the results of the tournament:

1st place (Split) - Jun Almonte - $125. and a sketch
2nd place (Split) - Dave Datillo - $60. and a sketch
3rd place - Roger Patel - $38.
4th place - Mike Barry - $25.
5th/ 6th place - Greg Harada/ Dave Hemmah - $20.

8 Ball Breakpot Winner - No winner ($32. rolls over to next week)

Also, a special thanks to Jennifer Lynn for assisting me with the tournament...what a great help she has been and Sean Delavar with digi-sketch.com for being so generous and donating a sketch to our Tournament Winner. A sketch will be donated every week to the winner. Sean was generous enough to donate sketches to both players that split 1st and 2nd place this last week. In the future, in the case of a split, a decision will need to be made on who receives the sketch.

* ANNOUNCEMENT - I will be out of town the weekend of October 8th (next Friday) but, in my absence, Jennifer Lynn will be directing the tournament. So, yes, the tournament will go on! Let's come out and show our support.

Just checking, whats the format of your tourney ? Race to what ? Single/double elimination ? Standard BCA rules ? Thks, Dan

Roger-

Another fine turn out. This sounds like a real shoot out-some fine players on the cashing list in recent weeks-but few repeats. Those short races seem to make it pretty interesting.

Just in case anyone out there was on the fence about this tournament, you really should make it out there.

I'm no where near the speed of some of these players, but everyone is great, the place has gorgeous Diamond tables (with waitresses to match) and Roger does an awesome job running it! The amount of knowledge in the room is worth far more than the $10 entry.

As far as the format... True Double Elim. (must beat the player in the hot seat twice), race to 2 (winner's) race to 1 (one loss), BCA Rules (including new rules for BCA as of 2010) - bih after foul on the break instead of in the kitchen, Loser Breaks on the winner's.

You're right Mikey...not a bad deal for $10.
 
Roger...Sounds like this must be handicapped, if Dave Hemmah took 5th/6th?
You're getting good turnouts right from the start. I'm looking forward to stopping in and seeing your room, when I'm in S. CA next month! I'll introduce myself! :thumbup:
