Is the weight bolt necessary for structural integrity? I have an older McDermott D-4 that I would like to make lighter. It has a 5" bolt weighing 2oz. Can I use the cue without a bolt or will I damage it?

You can shorten it or take it out entirely. It won't affect the cue at all. Some cues have a butt cap made out of Delrin, which doesn't glue well. For these cues, it is best to leave the bolt as is. Mcdermott is not one of these...JER

They make 5or 6 sizes and wt bolts if the bolts not there how do you screw the bumper on ?

I've got the aluminum weight bolts, if you need one. I also have just about every bolt in between.
