Welcome Pro-Tyme!

Welcome our new member and good friend of ours Pro-Tyme. Which is Pro Tyme Billiards in Orland Park, IL. Ed and Kelly are the nicest people that you want to meet and their room shows their love of the sport and dedication to the players. A huge welcome to this forum!

Most of you have heard me constantly bragging about this room. It will be featured as one of the best places to play in next months Billiard Digest Magazine.

When in the Chicagoland area, this is the place to go.

Eydie, I "met" a very nice couple this weekend in Athens & if I'm not mistaken, he said that he was the house pro. I say "met" because we never introduced ourselves! They sat next to me watching the Basavich vs Morris match. Very nice people & a pleasure to talk to. I believe he said he was heading down to FL to play in the senior event coming up. He gave me one of Ed Hiller's cards & explained the pool room to me. All I can say is that ya'll are some lucky people to have a pool room like that! WOW... I'd start playing again if I had a place like that to shoot in every night!

Welcome aboard Pro-Tyme... considering the time & effort you've put into your pool room, it's obvious you love the game. I'm sure you'll definitely be an asset to the forum!

Eydie- I went there with a guy who plays a lot of 14.1 at Red Shoes a few weeks ago. His name is Ed Latimer and he's a pretty good player. He was ecstatic about how nice the tables were, and how well the balls broke apart.
Now if they had a 14.1 league there, it would be a good place to go for us old coots that like the old game.

whatever i can do

dmgwalsh, it was a pleasure to have meet you last week ,ed and i are old friends from the original and still kicking protyme in alsip ,if there is anything i can do to support any game of pool period just ask and i shall make any arrangements needed to make it happen call anytime if you like and lets discuss it 708-403-0600 ever sat and sun 12-6 pm for sure and on thurs 7pm till close thank you for the warn welcome all members of this great site

Timberly ~ That was Mike the house pro from Pro Tyme. He and his wife (her name escapes me, I have a big case of CRS lately) are some of the best folks. Wait till you all see this place in BD next month, it's not a hall its a warm, inviting and cozy atmosphere. The ventilation system in the room is so good that you can't tell anyone is smoking. I am a non smoker, and this is one place that I can finally go to and be comfortable.

You may not see me playing on a pool table (BTW, I don't play pool) but you will find me on the computer game in the corner... Castle Bandits!

Oh and Ed, your going down! lol You wait, you got game!

Hugs! E

I'm sure that you are familiar with the format used by Jim Parker at the Illinois Billiard Club and John Lavin at Red Shoes. Everyone is given a handicap by the league director which is their target in their first match. You play two matches each night with the same opponent. If you split, handicaps remain the same. If you lose two, you go down 5 points for your next match. If you win you go up. (At Red Shoes, Ed Latimer is going to about 175, George Fels to about 135, Joe Klein to 130, Bob Cozzolino to 150, the rest scattered between 25!! and 90; IBC tops it out at 150.)

At Red Shoes, players pay $20 per week. Half goes to the house and the other half goes into the kitty. Players are paid ,at the end of the session, $5 per win and depending upon the size of the league, the top 3 or more are paid the rest of the kitty.

Red Shoes has a Monday league and just added a Thursday league. Both leagues are filled at 17 players.

IBC has a Tuesday/Wednesday and occasionally Thursday league with about 23 players. (only 5 tables used)

Tuesday probably would be a fair day for a league.

What do you think on price, format, day?

I will tie and surpass any game that either you or Barry have player... at all costs! lol (I bet it's going to cost) Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow at the weekly Thursday night 9 Ball tournament, that begins at 8 PM (PLUG)

damn it eydie, im supposed to help a friend out tomm and sub for his sucky team...lol, otherwise i would go play protymes tourney. im gonna see if i can get out of it, but were playing a good team tomm. ive been to the pro tyme in alsip (my old neighborhood), hows this one compare?? last time i was in there they were remodeling it. also, pockets is a nice hall as well. i guess ill have to start makin the drive to orland. see ya soon,
joey

Pockets is baby food next to Pro Tyme ~ No offense Pockets but it's so true. Both are nice places but Pro Tyme is a class act and it will be hard if not impossible for any room in this area to even come close.

Bob and I will be there tonight for their weekly Thursday night 9 ball tournament~ Better make that drive JOEY!

And Ed, you're going down! lol

We had a great showing of players tonight and many from AZB. Art, Joey, Rich, Ed, Kelly, and me all were there. Loads of action to be found, we just cloesd the place, had a great time.

Tuesday would work for me if thats what you decide... I would love to play Straight pool regularly, I am not that great at it, but I love to play...

One of the reasons I mentioned Tuesday to the owner was that you had mentioned it as an open day. He hasn't responded yet to my questions about a league, day, format, etc. If he gets one going, it should be interesting. I talked with the pro there, Mike Arden(?) about pool and 14.1 one Saturday. He seemed to be interested in getting something going.
