What’s wrong with me?

Over the holidays I had a chance to try a couple of CF shafts. One was a Revo and I think the other was a Cynergy. I use a 314-2 and was wanting to see the difference. I set up some shots requiring draw, follow etc to get to next shot. Except for a difference in feel and sound I really couldn’t tell the difference. The balls went in with each shaft, no problem. I was expecting a problem with the deflection differences that are so important to most players.
What’s wrong with me?

The differences in deflection really don't start to become noticeable unless applying side spin. Shots involving draw and follow won't feel much different.

I started playing again last year. I was using a predator 314-1 for quite a long time. I upgraded to a 314-3 shaft. I felt more of a diffrence going from the two wood shafts then going from the 314-3 to a Revo.

I used all the spins and saw no difference as far as ball pocketing was concerned. I let my friend use my cue with the 314-2 and he was pocketing balls with no problem too .. maybe the CF shafts I was using were close matches to my woody

The 314-2 is already a low deflection shaft so going to Revo or other low deflection carbon shaft really isn't going to be that different I wouldn't think Not surprised you didn't notice much.

Now try a solid traditional wood shaft and you'll definitely notice a difference compared to what you're used to. But Revo isn't massively different from a good low deflection wood shaft. Just has the advantage of not warping, no dings, etc.

I switched to a Revo from a Runde shaft with a micarta ferrule that I had built to 12mm. For a traditional wood shaft I always found it on the low deflection side but it's definitely not low deflection like the Revo. Took a bit to get used to. After the switch to Revo I ended up getting a SW Satin....and oh boy, that is a different thing altogether. It's a stout 13mm shaft and while it has a great hit it's definitely not low deflection, I literally had trouble making any shot with spin at first. Eventually over the course of an hour or so I was able to adapt somewhat but definitely didn't have the confidence I have with my Revo.

I went from a P314 12.7 to a Rhino CF 12.7 and noticed significant less deflection....It seems from other thread that the smaller diameter CF will have more deflection than the larger....I wonder did you by chance move to a smaller 12.x CF shaft?

If no....I have no other guesses.

i went to cf 1.5 years ago after playing with wood for over 15 years. There was zero learning curve going to the cf. Played great with it right out of the box.

The Revo was 12.9, not sure what the Cynergy was, but it was smaller diameter than the Revo. My 314-2’s are 13 mm

I didn’t notice any aim difference in 314 1,2 to Revo 12.4, 12.9.

Consider yourself lucky:) If you want to go black for the trend and the ding free shaft, you’ll be ready.
