What about Western Union instead of PAYPAL

Given the problems with paypal and the problems reported. Has anyone used Western Unions money wiring service to buy and sell cues??? I am curious if the same problem exist with Western Union???

It may cost a little more but the conveince may make up for the extra cost and their protection policy probably beats PayPal. It was one idea that hit me today. When a company acts poorly we as consumers must take our business elsewhere!!!!

Please respond if you have other good suggestions for safely doing business other than having Dirty Harry personally follow the cue and money from point to point?????

I've used it, but it's about priced itself out of the market. There's also Xoom but I still think, all in all, PayPal despite it's flaws, is the best way to send money fast.

just more hot air!

The wife wants to buy me a cue and place it on her credit card. USPS does not allow credit cards to buy Money Orders. I have got to jump through hoops to get money from her card and then more hoops to get the money order.

I don't think that Western Union has any guarantees about the transaction. I know of people being ripped off with Western Union also.

W/U is great if you are the seller. You receive 100% of the money and pay no fees. It is quick and convenient, and you get paid in cash!

Not in my world

I was screwed by US postal money order very good, the guy said he didn't recieve the money order so I drove 10 hours to pick up the lathe and paid cash. Six weeks later the post office stopped the money order and refunded my money in full , the seller got the MO sometime and didn't send it back to me or call me after I left him 50 cents extra to do so. When he went out of buisness a few months later he deposited the MO in his account and intern the Federal government charged me the full amount of the MO plus $58 for handling charges. I had no choice except pay or face jail time and was told by the Feds that canceling a MO doesn't stop the payment and when he cashed it I had recieved double monetary use of a MO. And the SOB from Chattanooga TN never had a buisness licence so I can't trace down ESell auctions to go give him an old fashioned a$$whoopin that he deserves. Watch them Postal money orders--Leonard

PS I recieved a bunch of help from AZer Snap9 who lived in Chattanooga and I still wasen't able to get the name of the person who rented the storefront a 1/2 mile from Diamond Billiard club.

i don't like waiting on g-dammed lines in the bank or the post office to buy a money order. if the seller doesn't accept paypal and i know him, or he has sufficient feedback, i;ll send a check and he can ship after it clears.

i'd also rather accept paypal than make the trip to the bank to deposit a check or money order.

even with it's faults, paypal offers some buyer and seller protections. i've been using them since their inception and have never had a single problem.

Since i'm from Europe and i had things orderd from the USA i sometimes had to use WU. The upside is they are really quick, takes 10min for money to arrive, the downside is they have outrageous transfer fees, for 1300$ i had to pay 63$ transfer fee!.

Moneybookers.com is a very nice Paypal alternative, very low transfer fees, but they are really strict with the account details.

I believe all the sources mentioned above are viable payment options when transactions go smoothly... we get into trouble as buyers/sellers when we deal with folks that are not on the level....if you have any doubts about doing deals on azb use an escrow service.....

It's an Imperfect World

First of all, I personally haven't had any probelms with PayPal. It's quick and easy plus, using a credit card sometimes to pay is very convenient ;)

Secondly, USPS postal money order is pretty good, inexpensive, yep a little bit of a pain in the touche but, alot of people don't use and/or like PayPal

Lastly, Bank or WU money order are a little more expensive but, just another option

But, remember......you need to know who your'e dealing with online, don't ship to unconfirmed addresses, get a signature and insurance and, dot all your I's and cross all your T's :D

Western Union is a seller friendly form of payment and the only form of payment I use for over seas buyers. All fees are paid by the buyer. Have payment sent to the W.U. location nearest you, pick up your cash then ship your item. However, The buyer must have trust in you to use this form of payment... as he has no protection.

What??? I always thought once you called and canceled a money order it was no longer any good?

Isn't that the point of canceling it?

Can someone get into further deatils on this that knows for sure?

Yea Josh i promice that is the truth and the Treasury agent I dealt with said that they have a huge stack of Postal Money Order charge backs every week and if you cant pay up front within a week they send you a 30 page book to fill out so you can get set up to make installment payments. If you don't send the money or the 30 pages back the next week you'll get a Knock on the door from local police agency, The Treasury Dept don't play with you. Most of the Treasury agents for the southeast are located in Alabama I think.--Leonard

Unfortunately, and this is not a suggestion, if the person on the other end of the transaction, buyer or seller, is intent on not living up to their end of the deal, then no "system" is right.

It really boils down to effective communication between the parties and reputation. It is also just like everything else we do in life, we're taking a chance. You calculate the perceived risk, make a decision and move forward.

I for one, have never had an issue with Paypal, although I do agree the fees are a bit high. I would rather send someone a check than have to mess with a money order.
