Anyone still playing with a Peppers cue?
I picked mine up to play with for a bit and decided to search regarding his cues, and came across this thread. Mine is one nice cue and I was surprised to see that there were issues with his work. Purchased mine from him in 2011 with no issues at all. Just curious.

I work on cues and have made a few. I am not really set up for fine cue building so I figured if I ever wanted to have one of my vintage cues converted I would choose Lee Peppers. Before this thread came out I saw a old Brunswick Professional that Lee had done. That cue was one of the most perfect cues I had ever seen and exactly want I wanted. It was disappointing to read this thread years ago when it was posted.
I got over it.

Lee just turned into a thief. People lost their money and cues from what I recall.
He bullshit a lot of folks. For awhile, I thought he was a pretty good cue maker
based on the photos he posted of his cues. Then the truth started to catch up
with him as it always does in life. It is inescapable but he got away with thievery.

I never really thought there was anything wrong with the work he actually did. He was big into the raffles we used to do here and he was constantly raffling off cues that he had not even started, and enticing people with choices of woods, wraps, etc,,,, from there he got way behind on delivering sold cues and never really was able to catch up, not sure how hard he tried.

Why didn't he just start raffling cues, then have some fake account he created be declared the winner?

I remember that raffles stopped on AZB. Was that from rigging or that they were illegal?

I had him do a Titlist conversion and the cue is very nice. I barely got it, it was right around the time the wheels came off on his operation. I was fortunate to get it and felt bad for the ones that got screwed.

I always wondered what happened to him, if he actually did get sick and passed, or if he just took the money and ran. I do think he had a good eye for old school cues, I had him do the conversion with a brass joint and it came together nicely, and play good.

The way I remember it, JB Cases was the reason it was stopped. He threatened litigation, or some shit.
Raffles were stopped because of legality issues. Technically its gambling. I miss them. I won three nice cues on the raffles. It was a un-named cuemaker/parts salesman than queered the deal.

I still play occasionally with my Lee Peppers cue, particularly during league play and at pool halls away from my home room. I may have one of the last cues he delivered. At the time I ordered, my main playing cue was a 59.5" Gus Szamboti with Barry shafts. I couldn't take the cue anywhere because it drew too much attention. I had Lee make me a cue that would be similar to the Gus dimensions and would allow me to use my favorite shafts with the Peppers butt. It is probably not worth more than I paid in 2012., even without the damage that Lee did to his reputation. My understanding is that the forearm is Prather as are many of the parts. It plays fine and remains straight but is not in the same class as my higher end cues (Showman, Schick).

It was indeed,,,,,,,, I miss the raffles also, I used to host a fair amount of them myself,,,,,,, I remember you used to participate in some of the ones I had as well. I sure miss my buddy Tommy, who used to raffle new Madden cues.
