What are YOU thankful for?

thankful for...

My brother South Dakota J, my family, and my life. I'm just plain thankful! :D

I'm grateful for every ball I ever make in. (That cursed Q-Skills drill has made me appreciate this much more than I used to.)

Thankful for...

Rude Dog, we met many years ago at a tournament in San Antonio at Galaxy billiards. Think you've got the right handle on things in your life. Friends, family and freedom are the "nuts" of life man!

Wow, finally someone that was there when I won a tournament. Were you there for the finals against Buddy Hall? I autographed a case for a guy right after the finals and in this case were the autographs from legends, Willie Mosconi, Luther Lassiter, and many more. I thought it was awesome that he wanted mine in that group. I wish my mind was a little clearer at that time in my life, as it is now, so I could appreciate days like that even more. Thanks coastydad, peace, John.

Meds? Who has meds? Where's the meds?

I got em'...and NEED em'. I'm waking up every four hours in massive pain. I'm thankful now that I only had one lower wisdom tooth and not TWO. It feels like he ripped my lower jaw out until the meds kick in...then it is smooth sailing for at least 4 hours. I'm glad now that 800mg of Ibuprofen is doing the trick...because I'm almost out of the Percocets.

If you can avoid having wisdom teeth removed....DO SO! I'm not sure this was worth it..LOL. The procedure itself was a cakewalk. It is the recovery that is a *****.

I'm thankful for God's precious gifts of my loving family, our health, having enough to eat and having shelter in difficult times, our friends, being selected with my husband to play in the IPT , being secure every night because of our brave service people - in the armed service and in fire departments and police stations across the nation. And I am also thankful to be in this community that has accepted me and my opinions with open arms. May God bless you and yours today.

My children are no longer young, but I certainly remember being thankful for these things!

"Things To Be Thankful For"

When I was younger, I remember receiving the
inevitable homework assignment to write an essay
on "something I am thankful for." Then I'd spend a
lot of time sitting in my room trying to figure out just
what in the world that could possibly be; and I'd end
up writing down everything I could think of from
G-d to environmental consciousness. But after having
children, my priorities have clearly changed:

BEFORE CHILDREN: I was thankful to have been
born the USA, the most powerful free democracy
in the world.
AFTER CHILDREN : I am thankful for Velcro tennis
shoes. As well as saving valuable time, now I can
hear the sound of my son taking off his shoes --
which gives me three extra seconds to activate the
safety locks on the back seat windows right before
he hurls them out of the car and onto the freeway.

BEFORE CHILDREN: I was thankful for the recycling
program which will preserve our natural resources
and prevent the overloading of landfills.
AFTER CHILDREN : I am thankful for swim diapers
because every time my son wanders into water in
plain disposables, he ends up wearing a blimp the
size of, say, New Jersey, on his bottom.

BEFORE CHILDREN: I was thankful for fresh, organic
vegetables.
AFTER CHILDREN : I am thankful for microwaveable
macaroni and cheese -- without which my children
would be surviving on about three bites of cereal
and their own spit.

BEFORE CHILDREN: I was thankful for the
opportunity to obtain a college education and have
a higher quality of life than my ancestors.
AFTER CHILDREN : I am thankful to finish a
complete thought without being interrupted.

BEFORE CHILDREN: I was thankful for holistic
medicine and natural herbs.
AFTER CHILDREN : I am thankful for pediatric
cough syrup guaranteed to "cause drowsiness"
in young children.

BEFORE CHILDREN: I was thankful for all of
the teachers who had taught, encouraged and
nurtured me throughout my formative years.
AFTER CHILDREN : I am thankful for all of the
people at Weight Watcher who let me strip down
to pantyhose and a strategically placed scarf
before getting on the scale each week.

BEFORE CHILDREN: I was thankful for the
opportunity to vacation in exotic foreign countries
so I could experience a different way of life in a
new culture.
AFTER CHILDREN : I am thankful to have time
to make it all the way down the driveway to get
the mail.

BEFORE CHILDREN: I was thankful for the
Moosewood Vegetarian cookbook.
AFTER CHILDREN : I am thankful for the
Butterball turkey hotline.

BEFORE CHILDREN: I was thankful for a warm,
cozy home to share with my loved ones.
AFTER CHILDREN : I am thankful for the lock
on the bathroom door.

BEFORE CHILDREN: I was thankful for material
objects like custom furniture, a nice car and trendy
clothes.
AFTER CHILDREN : I am thankful when the baby
spits up and misses my good shoes.

Wish I could have stayed for the finals, but, I had to work the next morning. Just remember that you were shooting lights out! That place, Galaxy Billiards, was a real trip. Had some great times there, saw some great pool. How do you like Kingman AZ? Went through there many years ago and thought it was a real nice town. Live in Colorado Springs now, if you get up this way let me know and we'll get together. At any rate, have a great Thanksgiving John! Hope that everything goes well for you and yours.

The holiday season is here, once again, and this year I'm going to list the 3 things I'm most thankful for in life.

1. My family and friends
2. Health
3. Freedom

My family has had quite a few losses the past 3 years, including both of my parents, whom I was very close to. We also lost my aunt, 2 uncles, a nephew, and 2 cousins. I'm still thankful for the time I had with my parents though and those memories can never be taken away. My brothers and sisters are scattered all over the U.S., so we rarely see one another. But I speak to my oldest sister, a lot, and I see her occasionally when we have the chance. We may spend Christmas together this year, which should be a treat. I have very few close friends to speak of but the one's I do have are very special to me. I don't see them as often as I would like because they still live in California but we do talk on the phone once or twice a month.
My health has been worse than what it is right now, but I'm far from being healthy. My leg has seen better days but I'm able to cope with the pain now and I do what I can to limit it. If I could lose about 60 lbs., I'm sure that would help a lot, but I sure like to eat, lol. Other than my leg and extra pounds, my health is okay and I'm thankful for that.
My freedom, now that's something I would never wish on anyone to ever lose. I spent 6 holiday seasons in prison and that's by far, the loneliest feeling in the world. Contact with family is scarce during that time because of the lack of available phones to use, and visiting days weren't for me. One year my family came to see me for Christmas, brother, sisters, nieces and nephews, but when they walked out the door to go home to their world, it felt like the day I was arrested all over again. So, I spoke to each and every one of them and asked them to not visit me anymore because I couldn't go through that again.
So, the reason for this thread is obvious, if you feel like sharing with the rest of us what you're thankful for in your life, please feel free to do so.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here in the forum. Peace, John.
I couldve easily lost my life in a car accident about a month ago. So I have learned to be greatful of a lot of things but I'm only going to list a few. My family and good friends. You really figure out who are your real friends when you go through a tradgedy. Not the buddies that just wanted to run the road with you and make money off you. I value my life now. I wake up happy everday and I dont let small petty things effect me anymore. Last but not least my health. I dont take my health for granted anymore. I will have a steel rod in my leg for life and I can barely trout around. I really appreciate every breath I take and every step I take. LOL

Happy Turkey Day everyone
