OK, here is a thread where you can offer positive suggestions to improve the quality of the DCC experience.

Please make only one sincere suggestion per post.

My suggestion in this post is to make the tournament double elimination and get rid of the buy back.

This could help improve the scheduling which is far more than a serious inconvenience.

OTHER SUGGESTIONS????
One suggestion per post please..............(you might even put the gist of it in the title section of your post to make it easier to find)

I would suggest a slightly different seating arrangement in the main tournament area. The seating around the tv table is great, but in the main tournament area it leaves a bit to be desired, especially for shorter people. I'm a little taller than average, myself, and didn't have any problems, but my wife, who is a petite person, struggled at times to see her favorite players' matches. Ideally, I think they would have small sections of bleacher seating instead of the "platforms" they use now, which make it hard for smaller people to see the action unless they are in the front row or two. I would happily pay extra for bleacher seating in that room.

That being said, however, the fact that my wife logged almost as many "sweat" hours as I did at the tournament is testament that she still had a wonderful time, and I think she'll want to go with me again next year. The DCC is an awesome experience, and I would urge everyone to try to make it out there if possible.

Seating

This issue may well be solved since next year, the event will be in the MUCH larger Expo Center...but there should be stadium seating around rectangles containing no more than 2 rows of tables...such as

That way, the spectator can have a reasonable view of at least 4 matches at a time.

I would suggest an arm wrestling table so I can finally see who wins in video #6. LOL I would suggest some better signage to let people know what is going on where.

a different hotel with twice the space for tables and spectator chairs as well, there just wasnt enought room for all that happened, and less happened because there simpally wasnt room. great event squished into to small of a venue.

BINGO JoeyA. Outside of that, love it the way it is.

Better scheduling, double elim!

I have played in the DCC banks for the past 5 years. It is a fantastic experience.

However, I would love to see it become double elimination or at the very least, have matches scheduled by time if possible. It is very hard to plan around your matches when you don't really know when you are playing.

Even if the format does not change, I will continue to play as long as the good Lord allows me to..

Peace, JBK

I don't think they could improve the DCC. I believe next year is taking a step back. It will be great for the tournament matches and viewers, but an incredible step back for the gambling match ups and convenience. I agree that the tournament seating was poor at best at the Executive West, but being able to stay at the same venue is priceless. The success of the DCC is will be it's worst enemy. It will basically become similar to the US Open. Not that it's a bad thing! Don't get me wrong, but I've attended both events and they are both great. However, I will take the DCC from conception - 2008 any day of the week. I hope my opinions are wrong. I guess I will find out next year. As the saying goes...All good things must come to an end!:( I also realize it's not all about me so don't bash me for expressing my opinion. If this is the right direction for the sponsors, I'm behind them 100%. They are great promoters of pool and great people. I thank them for the DCC experiences they have given me so far and I hope there are more to come.

Buy In Option

I'm sure I am missing something...but it seems to me that scheduling has been complicated far more by fact that tables/players dedicated to 1 hole, for example, can't be playing in 9 ball at the same time.

Whenever I've asked about when the next 9 ball draw is going to be, I am told that they have to wait for tables/players to free up from the 1 hole tournament.

Players are asked to exercise their buy back option promptly after a defeat and MUST do so before the next draw.

As noted above, the next draw cannot take place until those entered in 1 pocket have concluded whatever match they are in so I just don't see how the buy back option is the bottleneck...but again, I may well be missing something.

In the meantime, I would imagine that numerous players enter for the thrill of it and for the memories. Many of those wouldn't enter at all if they had to pay a higher rate for double elimination up front.

Some might make the case that "good riddance" let the bangers stay home but it is important for tournaments to turn a profit for the promoters..or their wouldn't be any tournaments so we have to be careful what they wish for along those lines.

Certainly Diamond has data on what percentage of 1 loss players exercise their buy back option that they might want to share here.

Jim

They need about 20 to 25 additional tables in a larger venue.

The single elimination with the buy back option is great. The single elimination ia all about playing 100%. Plus if you don't have the heart to buy back...you might as well just be a spectator.

no buy back!

they tournament should be best 2 out of 3 race format no double elimanation and no buy back. this way the best player that match will win.

I have been told that the buybacks are the profit for running the tournament for Diamond Products, and I consider that a very fair way of giving us the best tournament on earth. Some spectators buy in to the bank pool and use the players badge to watch the rest of the week also including the player guest badge for significant others. If it ain't broke don't fix it, just move to a bigger spot.--Leonard

lol, the best player determined by a 2 out of 3? do you mean 2 sets out of 3 or two games?

How many times can you buy back?

For me the one thing that would make the DCC better is simple:

Attend it! Getting the scoop online is nice but it ain't the same:)

I do like the convenience of the Hotels, but I too agree the DCC is 10 pounds of Pool in a 5 pound Bag.

Lots of Vendors, Players & Spectators (i.e lots of people) can't move amongst each other, comfortably or courteously.

I love the event, but I too agree that it needs some facility growth in size & accomodation.

It's a supply and demand thing. If they can't increase the supply of tables, and the demand keeps growing, the prices will go up. Moving this to a place like the Expo Center, might have it's drawbacks, but it might be the only way this thing can keep up with it's growing popularity without drastic price increases.

Unfortunately, the only way I think it can improve is to relocate to a larger venue and add more tables.

As the place the hold the event is being remodeled, or torn down, and that was where most folks stayed.

Has a venue be book for next year? Plus where are folks going to stay?

I will await replies.
