What cue to use?

RichardCranium said:
I am not sure what city you live in, but I would suggest finding a local pawn shop...Check out what they have...You should be able to get a cue there for less than $200.00 easy....

Don't worry about how good a cue you have right know...If you can learn to play good with a "cheap" cue...later on...Just think how good you will be when you get a good cue in your hands....

The only thing you want to make sure is that the cue is straight and has a decent tip...(NO SCREW ON TIPS)
thnak you for being nice and i have tryed that and yes there where some nice cues i should go back and ty

Hey, wait a minute guys...maybe this 12 year old BEGINNER should start with a Predator--He might as well get used to a low squirt cue right off the bat. It seems that would shrink the learning curve.

Drivermaker, your turn...:)

I think this little fart needs to go do his homework and quit spending so much time on an adult pool forum, especially since he has so many misspelled words.

Hey, kid...name 3 poolplayers that you know who are are millionaires or financially set for their retirement years. If you can't just wait until you have enough money for a Balabushka, and don't put a Predator on it either.

BTW, FAQ states that anyone under 13 needs parental consent to be on here...has that been done? Trust me...I WILL check with Mike if I see this little foo on here again. If he needs an introduction into the adult world, he can go watch The Simpsons.

Umm... could i have an ENGLISH translation for that please?
I am probably the only 21 year old, that doesn't speak "young american gibberish".
And shouldn't you be in bed by now? It's a school night...

Thanks,

Why pick on the kid

It simply amazes me that adults on here can act like this towards a 12 year old kid. The kid only asked that someone with more knowledge than himself recommend a cheap cue for him to start out with. I am trying to save this young man some money by sending him a cheap cue to use. He seems like a good kid that has his priorities straight. He already told you people that he knows that school comes first. You get on him about his grammar. Have you people ever thought that this young lad might be new to this country from someplace like Mexico or maybe puerto rico and is just learning english. Since i am giving him a cue to play with and since i know his real name, he has a spanish sir name, since i need it to ship him the cue. Why don't we welcome him to the board instead of ragging on him. I also believe his parents or guardian know that he is on here since i made him get permission from them before i sent him the cue.... So anyway....Banknfoo....welcome to the board and enjoy the cue.................................................mike

Perfectly said I would say! These idiots on here talking about how this kid should not be on this "adult" forum, then these so called "adults" telling a 12 year old all these things for no reason when the kid just asked one simple question. I would say mike and a few more of these guys on here can appreciate having a new YOUNG person starting out. And i've seen this kid play, he can beat 80 percent of ANYONE in the city he lives in, might be a small city but still good. He is very good for his age and deserves respect for taking this sport as serious as any of you! One more thing just to clear it up, he a very good student and plays pool EVERYDAY for 2-3 hours. Dont think you idiots have anything to worry except for your OWN problems, so shuddap already. THANK YOU......AND SMELL MY FEET. (ahhahahahahha stinky!).............and to you MIKE GOOOOOODDDD JOOOOBBBBB

As you know im new and young and wornering what kinda cue should i start out with but im not really that rich guy on my street so knida cheap.
Since Mike has taken care of the immediate problem, I'll make a couple of suggestions. Take half of the money you were going to spend on the cue and take some lessons. I wish I had taken some lessons at the start because I picked up a lot of bad habits that I would have been better off without.

Put the other half of the money away and start buying books with it. Don't get a bunch of books at once. It took me at least six months to understand all of what was in the first small pool book I got. When you think you have one book pretty well understood -- and I mean at the pool table and not at your desk -- try another.

One other suggestion. Even though you will have your own cue, try other cues as often as you can, especially when you can spin the ball pretty well. You will need to learn the differences between cues before you know what to get in your next cue, and if you play with the same cue all the time, that's all you'll know about. It's like if you only drove a station wagon -- you would never find out that you really like motorcycles.

Geez cueball, get a grip.
You can't take anything that i post like that serious. It's all in good fun. I wish i could have started out @ 12 years old. And i also wish that when i started playing, that i knew about places like this, that could have told me what to avoid in a first cue. The kid is lucky.
Now why can't we pick on him a little bit? Just for fun, man. Driver started it :D .

Thanks,

Jon

there somthing called ebay

you're right, there is! clicky

$184, knock yourself out. I use one, but I didn't start with it.

I echo alot of the statements above. Since someone was generous enough to send you a cue at no charge, apply the money you have to instruction and books/video.

What is your game of choice? What do you really enjoy, and what do you want to learn? There is tons of information out there to help.

Good luck!

oh - and anyone want to send me a free R. Black or JossWest? :p

That's beautiful...somebody posting this as a real role model for the kid to teach him what the adult world is about. A person calling others idiots who's a lifelong member of Mensa. Davey... it's time for you to take a trip down into Davey Jones' locker....bye-bye...glug, glug, glug.

I may be 12 but im not that dumb im going to take care of it not lose it or anything so dont worry.

I never said anything about being dumb. People spend years doing things wrong before they learn to appreciate and take care of their cue. If you dont understand where I am coming from, post a question or search for 'how to take care of your cue'. You will learn ALOT of useful information.

Thanks Angel

I just want to report that Angel got the KC custom sneaky pete today that i had sent him. i am happy to report that he is totally satisfied with the cue. In his words " It is alot nicer and more than i expected". He went on to say thank you about 5 times. I replied in kind that no thank you's were needed and that i was happy to help out a new player and that i hope he enjoyed the cue.
This young man, i get the impression, if he keeps at it and also keeps his grades up will be an asset to our sport. He seems like he is a very fine young gentleman. Good luck to you, angel, in the future and may you keep hitting them straight and true....................mike

I am just curious...since you know him...Is this "kid" really 12??? seems like a pretty smart 12 year old in the first place to be able to create his own ICON....I know many adults that can't do that...

Props by the way on giving him a fee used cue.....Now he has extra money for beer next time he is in the pool room....(JOKING) :D

I would send a note with it for his parents to take the cue away if the grades slip...
thats too bad that wont happen i live with my borther and he wasnt me 2 play all the time but 1st my home work so dont worry about it
