What did you learn this year?

I learned that moving 1 1/4" table slate is better left to someone younger and smarter! :)

this year i have learned the importance of the back hand. when i took a lesson with scott lee he basically said as long as its comfortable dont worry about it. i realize now this was only b/c he as trying to help me develop the repeatable stroke (which would be better if i wasnt so lazy that i slacked off on my mother drills...). so here is two things that have helped me in relation to the back hand: 1) V-grip (thanks lee brett), and 2) point the thumb straight down (thanks grey ghost).

forums - i'm for'em

I've used this forum for info more current than the articles.
Then an injury made me house-bound and i started posting.
I learned i prefer the aninimity because some of the ego is shed.
The words have to stand on their own.
This doesn't give me the right to be nasty[although i DID rant
about dumpers]
I love the give and take of this forum and i'll post as long as i'm allowed.

ps - Can i be barred for illiteracy?

I don't know about 'learned', but .... I've changed my stroke and added a definate PAUSE on my backstroke. Seems to have helped my accuracy.

I have learned the saying "If you build it they will come" Fargo Billiards is a must see if you are ever in the area. My recent trip to Phoenix was so good I will be moving there soon. Hope to meet a lot of azers then.

I've learned quite a bit this year too.

-Teaching a 2 1/2 year old how to hold and use a cue requires a lot of patience.

-I've found that I enjoy working with new players that want to learn the game. It's nothing formal, just some stance and stroke help. But I love watching them get excited about the game as they improve.

-I need to practice with a purpose. No practice is better than bad practice.

-I remembered how much I love this game.

- learned how to jump pretty well
- how rebound angles and subsequent reactions are affected by spin, speed, cloth and humidity
- how to read racks and break more effectively
- improved accuracy by knowing tangent lines better
- how to better mentally deal with good and bad rolls
- learned and incorporated BHE

Next year I want to:
- less adverse game affect from distractions & feeling sorry for opponents
- be quicker to adapt to different tables/conditions
- be more consistent

I learned that although it's permissable to enter two teams into the same division but on separate nights, it's certainly not advisable.
