What do I clean my Cue with

shout it out

in the past ive done the following-

take a moist/damp cotton towel, 2 sprays of a pre- wash stain remover like shout or oxy clean (Set the nozzle to a wide spray)

then lightly clean the wrap by rubbing in the direction of the wrap

dry with another towel and burnish with wax paper to smooth and reseal
 
Your not missing nothing. Its me getting master chalk all over my right hand lol. I knew better than to get a cue with a white wrap but nooo lol
 
Qjunkie I thought about using oxy clean buy was hesitate on what to do. I got some of it off with a damp cloth. I guess when it gets real nasty I'll try the method you suggested.

This is a really good technique. The trick is to not saturate the linen or like Qbuilder says, you may loosen the glue underneath.

It's fairly easy to remove the chalk stain using Shout, then remove the Shout with water or fabric pre wash, but getting the wrap to feel right again may take a little extra work. Shout has chemicals that dissolve dyes. I also use it as carpet stain cleaner.

The linen has fibers like wood does, so they will rise when contacted with water. If you happen to rough up the linen too much, you can let it dry completely, then use a fine sand paper, like 600 grit, to gently remove the fibers. Then seal it by rubbing it with wax paper. The friction heat helps transfer the wax.

FYI when cleaning, sanding or waxing the grip, always best to follow the lines of the linen, not across it. Much less chance of loosening it that way. I have not had good luck with solvents on wraps. Eventually they dry out the linen leaving it weak and brittle and easily soak through to the glue underneath.

That being said, I've had my Tiger stack wrap for about 10 years now. It's still 100% perfect and I love it. No maintenance required and it does not wear though like normal leather wraps.

I know what you're thinking, but one of the guys at the pool hall, I beg your pardon, sports bar and grill, told me about it. He took a couple of napkins, smeared some of this Germ X on his cue shaft and wiped it down. You wouldn't believe all the blue crud that came off.
Another rub down with some dry napkins and he was good to go. Amazing.
Now, here's the good part. When he was finished the shaft was slicker than you-know-what on a gold tooth and would glide through his bridge hand smooth as silk.
Get the one with aloe. :)

I would think the aloe would leave a residue and be sticky.

The Germ X should work equally as well with the wrap.
Having said that, let me out of any liability should things go to hell in a hand basket regarding the wrap or the shaft. :smile:

This stuff is mostly alcohol with some moisturizers thrown in. Might have to try it.

You are correct, sir.
I think, however, the moisturizers (lotions) acts as a binder. The alcohol lifts the crud out where it is held by the lotions, and then wiped off with a dry towel. :)

How do you manage that? I can play for hours and hours and you could not tell from my non-bridge hand. You know that you aren't supposed to take the paper wrapper off of the chalk, right? :grin-square:

You know, I somehow manage to get a strong accumulation of chalk at the base of my middle finger on my right (stroking) hand, yet I only chalk with my left hand. I've never been able to catch myself with chalk in my right hand, ever; it's a mystery to me...:confused:
 
He's probably holding the cue in a horizontal position with his left hand and chalking with his right hand. He's also probably cupping the cube of chalk and grinding it on his tip and ferrule; therefore he's getting chalk all over his right hand and then grabbing his wrap.

Pics would tell for sure but in banking on this.

For the wrap, you are likely chalking in a way that causes the chalk that falls off the tip while you're applying it to fall onto your hand...then that hand goes to the wrap for shooting. Switch hands, chalk softerly.

For the shaft, shit happens. Let it blue, let it blue...just like the Beatles sung it. Whisper words of wisdom, let it blue.

Hell yes I know to leave the wrapper on the chalk lol. I have known that since I was a kid lol. I was over chalking the new tip with my right hand. I can't help but get my bridge hand nasty playing on felt that has not been changed in 2 years lol.
