How do you handle this? Situation... game 11 out of 12 in finals match of skins game tournament. Skins are as high as they are going to get and there are several on the line. You are left this situation.

I'll give you a B for effort but the 8 ball is to close to the tit to be able to count on it coming straight across the table. 8 ball can't be made like that. I should have mentioned this in original post. Sometimes it's is hard to show the exact positions using the wei table.

Tough situation. I would play all cue ball positioning on this shot. I'd thin the 8 and float the CB as close to the end rail as possible. Your opponent would then be forced to take a table-length shot against the rail, and still try to get the CB back down table for the 9.

I'd rather have my opponent take a difficult shot than to attempt a low percentage bank and possibly selling out an easy shot if missed.

Here's another option. Shoot super slow at the eight and leave this,

That is very good thinking and very probably a better answer than I came up with. I'm playing a good player. If I thin the 8 as you suggest and send the cue to the end rail he is going to have a long tough shot. I'd have to hit is pretty soft to only send the cue ball to the bottom rail and if I thin it to much he could end up with a duck in the side. If I do get the tough leave and if he pulls it off I'm done. The only way I would get another shot is if it goes to a playoff for the final skins.

In fear of someone coming up with a real good solution and embarrassing me for my question.:o

I'll change the question from 'What do you do from here?' to How do you get out and clinch enough skins to be tournament champion?:)

I would do this

This not only leaves a real tough shot, but also a real tough
shape shot for the 9 ball.

I gave some real heavy consideration to this one, but found another shot that I'm personally much more comfortable with.

I would rather take my chances on shooting than giving my opponent a chance. Since many of the safety options are risky at best---I would shoot this two rail kick and leave a good shot on the nine. This is really a high percentage shot. Try it 10 times and you should make it at least 8.

What do you think???

this looks like the best option to me, just be careful not to ht the 8 ball to hard, it would bring it back up table. People tend to hit harder when playing draw.

The OB and CB ain't going anywhere near those angles, especially with the right english you diagrammed.

I should add...unless you are predicting a squashing of the cushion corner, which may be possible.

All good replies. Guess I should just say what I did. Tennesseejoe picked my shot. Two rail kick down toward the end rail and up along the side rail to kick into the side.

As far as position is concerned, speed was the issue. I tried to hit it as soft as I could and still count on it holding some kind of line over that distance. I thought I'd end up somewhere around the head spot. With the cut into the side being so thin It rolled a little farther.

Then successfully cut the 9 in the corner.

I thought you were dreaming, but now I know you are just high! How the F are you going to shoot a 3-railer wit hthe line coming off the OB, going straight to the side pocket? Why not just give bih and not make everyone wait for the 8 to stop rolling?

That said, I think your option of just tapping the 8 is the best, so easy to execute and effective too...

One thumb up, one thumb down: ;)

Wow- what a way to go out- nice score!!

But, since the thread was 'whaddya do from here', and not, 'lookit what I did from here'...I (might have, but probably) wouldn't have shot the 8 like that for the big W.

Yeah, it is a dream shot, that is why the three railer was my final thought on the matter. It is definitely not the best way to go. I think I would give it a try before the one Capt' JR did though. I am glad it worked out for him, but it could have just as easily went bad.
