What do you look for when you want to play for money in the Hall?

when i see certain things in the pool hall when i'm trying to gamble a little, i look for things like this...

Loud Mouths
People who use no english
people who have to look where to place there back hand on their cue
people who line the OB into the pocket, everyshot with their cue
full stained cue's bright colors
practicing a rack of balls by themselves, and misses 3-4 shots or more...
people drinking heavily

these are the people i ask if they want to gamble, how about you?

Someone with money and a willingness to play. Everything else can be negotiated. No money is a deal breaker though.

Many people make the mistake of first getting a table, then looking for a game, so sometimes the best thing to do is look for people who are looking for people. A guy who's on a table by himself, but is paying more attention to the rest of the room than his own game may be a good target. He's probably either looking for attention or competition, and both can translate into a money game. Do your recon from the rail to avoid being that guy, and take advantage of the chance to clock him before you approach him... and then hope like hell he wasn't just putting on a show for you. :D

It's a funny thing....

I used to work at CJ's in Dallas, and I would go up there at 10-11 AM sometimes before they would open and have the cleaning crew let me in. I could find action anytime I had the extra money..I've always gone around and looked for the suckers since then in pool halls and little bars. Don't get me wrong if I'm in the mood to gamble I'll play anyone..even if I know I don't have a chance..I try my best to see where my game is at..

Sometimes action is so bad I'll go in and grab a drink from the bar that way I can let people think I've been drinking..(My new approach since I got barred from a bar when I was really really drunk) Even back then when I was buzzing hard core I shot lights out and no one would play me because they learned after the first couple of times...but if I go to Dallas and my timing is right I can get all the action I want..

not that i play any more, but my object was always to play with the intention of trying to win,as a former card player one thing you must always be aware of is a tight player who seldom bets big and usually wins.
so first off i look for someone who has a habit of playing relatively high and does not quit when he loses a few games.

if he has a reputation for quitting if he loses a couple of games,he is too tight,if he plays too cheap or complains too much who needs him.

i also prefer people who are not running scared and have to ask the local detectives who to play.i usually prefer playing players with stakehorses or place and over estimate of their own ability. i prefer playing a plus players who give big handicaps because everyone likes to bet on them and i can pick up side bets and bust the rail too

i saw a cowboy movie that summed it up,the hero won a lot of money playing poker, and then had to fight.when asked "why do you play with sore losers?"he replied"it beats playing with winners.

my advice to those players with the altruistic visions of what is good for the game and what is not is for you not to gamble at all, because if you enjoy playing for money and you don't have the best of it you are going to lose,if that does not bother you then enjoy the action
