What does factory certified technician mean???

Sounds outstanding. I was in no way critisizing your idea I think its a good one I just know how most establishments in this industry can be.

I will be the first to admit selling anything from a service to a product is a little tougher down south vs up north. I too got a fair shake of business but I couldn't get away with 100 more than the other guy type prices. I settled on about 35 more than my competitors(freelancers) and about 30 less than some of the Billiard shops in town.

I was wanting the regular work. I wanted to have contracts for the recovers. Say every two to three months but it just wouldn't work that way and for me is wasn't worth it to do just a table or two vs 10 to 15 at a time. There was enough sparatic work around do 2 here 2 here 15 here 3 here but ultimately I just make more money in sales and its more reliable.

So would you be targeting mechanics that work for a dealership or journeymen mechanics. Maybe you could set up your school to be a parts distributor, IE cues, chalk, cloth, rubber, pockets and then sell these products to the students rather than pay the premium prices from the dealerships for materials. If I could have gotten cloth for cheaper it would have made a bigger difference in my bottom line.

You have no clue buddy...LOL I know how to lock up bar owners of all their coin-operated pool tables, and get the tables recovered at about minutes a table...with no discount for multiple tables. With me, 1 table or 20 tables...I do NOT give a discount, period! My question to the bar owners is quit simple, "Do you want the same quality of work done on all your tables, or just a few, because if you want the last table to look like the first one, then the price is going to be the same...any questions?"

Glen

I've got something coming that'll give billiards technicians the edge over bar tables that's untouchable by anyone else. When I'm ready I'll let you know what it is.

I wouldn't exactly say I have no clue I made off ok about 35k a year in my early 20's and south Texas is as frugal as it gets. I can do a recover on a bar box in about 45 minutes to an hour. Home table with 3 piece slate would take me 1.5 hours to 3 hours depending on condition. Its not that I had problems Keeping regular business its the frequency of the regular business that I didn't like.

No matter I enjoyed the work but I can double my pay in sales and at least have some health ins. for my family

Time to the bar and setting up and getting the job done is something I always took into consideration. Doing 4 or more tables would always equal a better profit margin.

Good luck your school keep me posted I would love to know how it goes.
